Tailor my CV for this job — freeAI Engineering Intern, Construction IntelligenceMirage Metrics | Casablanca, MoroccoStart: Early January 2027 Duration: 6 months Type: Full-time internship, on-site Deployment: International travel possibleWE BUILD SOFTWARE THAT HAS TO WORK IN THE REAL WORLD.Construction projects worth hundreds of millions depend on engineering drawings, technical specifications, quantities, revisions, and fragmented information spread across dozens of systems. We're building AI systems that can understand that information, reason over it, and execute engineering workflows at scale.Computer vision. Multimodal AI. Geometry. Document intelligence. Production software. Our systems are already being tested and deployed against real construction projects, alongside engineers and estimators who know immediately when the output is wrong. We are hiring an AI Engineering Intern to help build the underlying technology. The technical problems are difficult. The data is messy. The accuracy requirements are unforgiving. We expect interns to contribute to real systems, not spend six months on theoretical exercises.THE WORKYou will help build and deploy AI systems that:- Read and interpret complex construction drawings, PDFs, and technical specifications.- Detect, classify, and quantify structural and architectural elements.- Combine computer vision, multimodal models, LLMs, and deterministic engineering logic.- Extract and reconcile quantities against engineering references and bills of quantities.- Identify drawing revisions, discrepancies, and missing information.- Process large volumes of technical documents reliably.- Run in production through APIs, backend services, and customer integrations. You will work across the engineering stack, from model experimentation and data pipelines to production deployment. You will work directly with experienced engineers and potentially with construction professionals using our technology. You will investigate failures, improve accuracy, write production code, and see your work tested against real engineering requirements.THE ENGINEERING BARWe expect:- Strong Python skills and solid software engineering fundamentals.- Hands-on experience with machine learning, computer vision, or multimodal AI.- A good understanding of algorithms, data structures, and software architecture.- The ability to write clean, tested, maintainable code.- Experience building technical projects beyond coursework and basic tutorials.- The ability to debug complex problems independently.- Strong analytical thinking and attention to detail.- High ownership, intellectual curiosity, and the willingness to put in serious effort.- Professional English, French, and Arabic.Experience with PyTorch, OpenCV, OCR, vision transformers, document parsing, CAD/BIM, geometric algorithms, or backend development is highly valuable. We care about demonstrated ability, not just academic credentials. You do not need to have worked in construction. You do need to be capable of learning a difficult engineering domain quickly.HOW WE OPERATEMirage is a small engineering team operating at high intensity.Interns work on real production problems alongside the core engineering team. You will be expected to take initiative, investigate problems before escalating them, and continuously improve the quality of your work.We provide technical guidance and code reviews. We also expect you to think independently, challenge assumptions, and arrive with potential solutions rather than waiting for instructions. The pace is demanding. Deadlines are real. Customers depend on the systems we build.People who demonstrate exceptional ability will be given increasingly difficult problems and greater responsibility.Strong performance may lead to a full-time engineering position.WHO SHOULD NOT APPLYPlease do not apply if:- Your AI experience is limited to tutorials, prompt engineering, or basic chatbot wrappers.- You have never built a substantial technical project independently.- You cannot explain the code and technical decisions behind your projects.- You need constant supervision to make progress.- You are looking for a remote or low-intensity internship.- You are uncomfortable with demanding technical evaluations or direct feedback.- You are primarily looking to add an AI company to your CV.We are looking for people who genuinely enjoy engineering, spend time building things outside their academic requirements, and want to become exceptional at their craft.APPLICATION PROCESSEmail: mehdi@miragemetrics.com Subject: AI Engineering Intern | Casablanca | Your NameYour application must include:1. Your CV and university or engineering school.2. Evidence of something you built. Share a GitHub repository, substantial technical project, or engineering write-up. Explain precisely what you implemented yourself.3. Concise answers to the following questions:- What is the most technically difficult system you have built, and what made it difficult?- Describe a technical failure you encountered. How did you diagnose and resolve it?- Given a 200-page construction drawing set, how would you design a system to identify and count all reinforced concrete columns reliably?Generic cover letters, AI-generated motivational statements, and applications without evidence of technical work will not be considered.Shortlisted candidates will complete a practical technical evaluation and interviews focused on engineering fundamentals, code quality, and problem-solving.We have a high bar, including for interns.Casablanca. On-site. Six months. Starting January 2027.
