AI Researcher, SecurityRole SummaryAI Security is looking for an AI Researcher, Security to build secure, reliable AI-agent harnesses for cybersecurity operations. You will research, prototype, evaluate, and help operationalize capabilities on the Albert agentic platform, applying relevant security controls and insights from Cisco AI Defense and Splunk to priority workflows.This is a hands-on role at the intersection of applied AI research, software engineering, and product security. You will turn security problems into structured experiments and production-oriented harnesses, working with AI engineers, security practitioners, product teams, and operational stakeholders.What You Will Do

• Build domain-specific AI-agent harnesses for selected cybersecurity workflows, using LLMs, retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), Model Context Protocol (MCP), and tool integrations where appropriate.
• Define team-agreed requirements, success measures, and repeatable functional and security test suites.
• Apply secure-by-design and threat-modeling practices to agent prompts, tools, data flows, guardrails, and operational safeguards.
• Integrate relevant Cisco AI Defense and Splunk capabilities and assess their value for the selected workflow.
• Partner with engineers to improve the harness based on test evidence and stakeholder feedback.
• Deliver maintainable code, automated tests, technical documentation, demonstrations, and operational handoff materials.What Success Looks Like
• Selected security workflows have documented requirements, threat models, guardrails, and success measures.
• AI-agent harnesses are supported by automated tests, clear implementation documentation, and repeatable evaluations.
• Validated harnesses meet team-defined readiness criteria, with security and monitoring considerations recorded.
• Stakeholders receive clear demonstrations and handoff materials that enable continued team ownership.Minimum Qualifications
• Experience building or evaluating AI, software, or security capabilities.
• Software-development ability in at least one modern programming language, including automated testing; Go is preferred.
• Understanding of AI or machine-learning concepts and cybersecurity fundamentals, including threat modeling and secure-by-design practices.
• Ability to communicate technical findings clearly and work effectively with cross-functional partners.Preferred Qualifications
• Experience with LLM applications, agentic systems, RAG, MCP, tool use, or model and agent evaluation.
• Experience in application security, product security, or cybersecurity operations.
• Familiarity with Go, APIs, SQL, vector datastores, Extract, Transform, and Load (ETL) pipelines, automated testing, observability, or cloud-native software delivery.
• Experience translating research outcomes into production-oriented engineering guidance, documentation, or operational practices.
• Knowledge of Cisco AI Defense, Splunk, or comparable AI-security and security-operations platforms.Collaboration and Development EnvironmentThis role collaborates with AI Security colleagues and stakeholders across the United States, Europe, India and Asia. The team combines individual ownership, technical knowledge sharing, regular feedback, and access to AI and security subject-matter experts.
