Position OverviewThe Associate, Asset Management will support the financial and operational performance of the real estate portfolio. Reporting to the Vice President of Investments and Asset Management, this role is hands-on and analytical: you will build and maintain financial models, track asset performance against underwriting, and help execute business plans across a mixed-use multifamily and commercial portfolio. This is a strong opportunity for an early career candidate to build a foundation across the full asset lifecycle, learn directly from senior investment professionals, and grow into greater ownership over time.Key ResponsibilitiesAssist in creating and implementing business plans that enhance property value through operational improvements, capital investments, and strategic initiatives to maximize returnsTrack monthly and quarterly financial performance across assigned assets, including budget-to-actual variance analysis, cash flow, and key performance metricsWork closely with property management teams to achieve performance targets and ensure operational excellenceMaintain and update asset-level financial models, cash flow projections, and valuationsSupport the annual business planning and budgeting process in coordination with property management teamsPrepare investment analyses, performance reports, and presentation materials for senior leadership and investment committee reviewMonitor asset performance against underwriting and business plan assumptions, flagging variances and helping evaluate corrective actionsConduct market research on submarket conditions, comparable properties, competitive positioning, and emerging trendsVisit properties across the portfolio as needed to conduct site inspections, tour comparable properties, and support on-site initiatives alongside property management teamsSupport reporting to joint venture partners, lenders, and institutional investors, including quarterly reporting packages and ad hoc information requestsCollaborate cross-functionally with the investments, development, finance, and operations teamsQualifications1 - 4 years of experience in real estate asset management, acquisitions, investment management, valuation, or a related fieldBachelor's degree in Real Estate, Finance, Business, Economics, or a related field requiredStrong financial modeling and analytical skills with advanced proficiency in Excel; experience with ARGUS preferred or a willingness to learnFamiliarity with multifamily and/or commercial property-level operations and real estate financial statementsExposure to institutional investors or joint venture reporting a plusStrong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present analysis clearlyHighly organized and detail-oriented, with the ability to manage multiple deadlines across a portfolioSelf-motivated and collaborative, with a desire to take on increasing responsibilityLocationThis role requires a minimum of four days per week on site, either in the Washington, DC office or at one of the portfolio properties, with Fridays optionally remote.
