Protection Manager to lead the organization's asset protection and loss-prevention strategy across stores, facilities, warehouses, distribution operations, inventory, products, equipment, people, and other critical assets.The ideal candidate will develop and implement proactive asset protection programs, identify loss and fraud risks, strengthen physical and operational controls, manage investigations, oversee security systems and service providers, reduce shrinkage and prevent financial losses, and build a strong culture of asset protection across the organization.Key ResponsibilitiesDevelop and implement the organization's asset protection strategy, framework, policies, standards, procedures, controls, and governance model.Establish enterprise-wide asset protection and loss-prevention programs covering stores, facilities, warehouses, distribution centers, inventory, merchandise, equipment, cash, technology, employees, customers, and other critical assets.Develop annual asset protection strategies, priorities, initiatives, budgets, risk-reduction plans, and performance objectives.Establish asset protection governance structures, accountability models, escalation procedures, reporting requirements, and management controls.Conduct comprehensive asset protection risk assessments across stores, facilities, warehouses, supply-chain operations, logistics networks, and business processes.Identify theft, fraud, damage, diversion, unauthorized access, operational loss, inventory shrinkage, process weaknesses, security vulnerabilities, and other loss exposures.Develop and maintain asset protection risk registers, loss profiles, vulnerability assessments, mitigation plans, action trackers, and investigation records.Analyze historical loss data, incident trends, inventory discrepancies, shrinkage patterns, security events, fraud indicators, and operational exceptions to identify emerging risks.Develop risk-based asset protection strategies based on loss trends, asset value, location risk, business activity, operational complexity, and threat exposure.Establish loss-prevention standards and controls for stores, warehouses, distribution centers, offices, facilities, transportation operations, and other locations.Develop and implement controls to prevent theft, fraud, product diversion, inventory loss, cash loss, damage, unauthorized access, and other forms of asset loss.Establish asset protection requirements for high-value, high-risk, restricted, sensitive, or controlled assets.Develop procedures for protecting merchandise, inventory, equipment, tools, company property, cash, gift cards, technology assets, and other valuable resources.Coordinate with Retail and Store Operations teams to implement asset protection programs across stores and customer-facing locations.Develop store-level asset protection standards covering access control, merchandise protection, CCTV, alarm systems, cash handling, stockroom controls, receiving, returns, refunds, transfers, and inventory processes.Monitor store compliance with asset protection policies, procedures, controls, and operating standards.Conduct store and facility asset protection assessments, inspections, audits, and risk reviews.Identify high-risk locations, processes, departments, products, employees, transactions, suppliers, and operational activities.Develop targeted loss-prevention plans for high-risk locations and business areas.Work with Store Management, Retail Operations, Merchandising, Inventory, and Supply Chain teams to reduce shrinkage and improve inventory accuracy.Analyze inventory shrinkage, stock discrepancies, write-offs, damaged goods, returns, transfers, receiving variances, and other inventory-loss indicators.Establish controls around receiving, put-away, storage, picking, packing, transfers, dispatch, returns, and inventory adjustments.Identify vulnerabilities within warehouse and distribution processes that could result in theft, diversion, damage, misplacement, or inventory discrepancies.Work with Logistics and Transportation teams to identify risks during transportation, cross-docking, delivery, last-mile distribution, and handover activities.Develop controls for high-value shipments, sensitive products, secure transportation, chain of custody, proof of delivery, and exception management.Assess third-party logistics providers, carriers, warehouses, contractors, and other service providers for asset protection risks.Establish asset protection requirements within supplier, logistics, security, and contractor agreements.Coordinate with Procurement and Supply Chain teams to incorporate loss-prevention, security, incident-reporting, investigation, and accountability requirements into relevant contracts.Conduct supplier and third-party asset protection risk assessments and monitor compliance.Develop programs to prevent internal theft, fraud, collusion, misconduct, policy violations, and abuse of company assets.Establish controls for employee access, authorization, transaction privileges, inventory adjustments, refunds, discounts, voids, returns, cash handling, and other high-risk activities.Monitor exception reports and transactional indicators to identify potential internal loss or fraud.Work with Finance, Internal Audit, Retail Operations, and HR to investigate suspicious transactions, policy violations, financial irregularities, and potential fraud.Establish appropriate protocols for employee-related asset protection investigations.Coordinate with Human Resources and Legal to ensure investigations are conducted fairly, confidentially, consistently, and in accordance with applicable requirements.Manage or coordinate investigations involving theft, fraud, inventory loss, organized retail crime, vendor fraud, employee misconduct, unauthorized access, property damage, and other asset-protection incidents.Develop investigation procedures, case-management standards, evidence-handling protocols, reporting requirements, and escalation criteria.Ensure investigations are properly documented, evidence is preserved, findings are supported, and cases are appropriately closed.Conduct root-cause analysis to identify process, control, behavioral, system, or governance weaknesses contributing to losses.Develop corrective and preventive actions based on investigation findings.Track remediation activities and verify that corrective measures effectively reduce recurring losses.Coordinate with Legal, Compliance, Internal Audit, HR, Finance, Security, and law-enforcement authorities where appropriate.Establish procedures for law-enforcement notification, evidence preservation, case escalation, legal review, and external investigation support.Ideal CandidateThe successful candidate should have experience in asset protection, loss prevention, retail security, physical security, fraud prevention, investigations, risk management, supply-chain security, inventory control, or related fields.Experience working with retail, e-commerce, logistics, warehousing, distribution, manufacturing, consumer goods, hospitality, real estate, infrastructure, or other asset-intensive organizations is highly advantageous.The candidate should demonstrate:Strong understanding of asset protection, loss prevention, shrinkage management, fraud prevention, physical security, investigations, and operational risk.Proven experience developing and implementing enterprise or multi-site asset protection and loss-prevention programs.Strong experience conducting asset protection risk assessments, security vulnerability assessments, loss reviews, operational audits, and site inspections.Experience managing inventory shrinkage, merchandise loss, theft, fraud, damage, diversion, cash loss, and operational discrepancies.Strong understanding of retail and/or supply-chain loss-prevention controls, including receiving, storage, inventory, transfers, returns, refunds, dispatch, transportation, and cash processes.Experience developing and implementing store, warehouse, distribution, facility, and operational security standards.Strong understanding of CCTV, access control, alarms, electronic article surveillance, surveillance analytics, physical security, and other asset-protection technologies.Experience managing investigations involving theft, fraud, employee misconduct, vendor issues, organized theft, property loss, and other material incidents.Strong understanding of investigation methodology, evidence preservation, case management, root-cause analysis, and corrective actions.Experience working with Legal, HR, Finance, Internal Audit, Compliance, Security, law enforcement, and other stakeholders during investigations.Strong understanding of internal theft, fraud, collusion, transaction abuse, refund fraud, inventory manipulation, and other loss mechanisms.Experience analyzing data, exception reports, inventory discrepancies, transactional patterns, and loss trends to identify potential risks.
