About the roleWe are a UAE retail and distribution group operating 25+ brands and 30+ branches. We are hiring an Assistant Accountant for our Finance Division in Abu Dhabi. The role owns the daily bookkeeping cycle, accounts payable and cheque preparation, bank reconciliations and the daily bank balance report, and supports month-end closing under the direction of the Management and the external auditors.Key responsibilitiesBookkeeping and reconciliations Post daily entries in the accounting system for the assigned bank and cash accounts; keep the books current to the day. Reconcile bank accounts and payables ledgers weekly, investigate differences and clear them with the team. Prepare the daily sales reports per brand and the petty cash expense report. Maintain the depreciation schedule and support the monthly closing. Accounts payable, expenses and payments Check supplier bills and staff expense claims submitted in the expense system: correct account, supporting document, approval status; return incomplete submissions. Prepare cheques and cheque lists (including rent cheques for branch leases), match them to approved bills, and update the cheque register and the shared drive. Initiate payments and transfers on the online banking platforms for Management authorisation; follow up pending approvals and bank queries. Maintain the rent schedule for all branches and the list of pending payments and approvals for Management. Reporting and audit Prepare the daily bank balance report (end of day) for Management. Prepare the monthly reports requested by Management (branch-level schedules, mall reporting such as monthly statements requested by landlords, AP ageing summary). Prepare documents for signature, respond to bank requests (account details, employee additions on payroll platforms), and support the external auditors during their review. Submit a daily timesheet and keep supporting documents filed and retrievable. Requirements 1 to 3 years of experience in accounting or bookkeeping, preferably in retail, FMCG or a multi-branch company in the UAE. Hands-on experience with an accounting system (cloud SME accounting suite preferred) and with an expense-management tool. Practical experience preparing cheques, initiating bank payments on online banking platforms, and performing bank reconciliations. Good Excel skills: schedules, reconciliations, pivot tables. Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or Commerce. Accurate, organised and disciplined about supporting documents and approval before payment. Good written and spoken English; Arabic is an advantage. Based in Abu Dhabi or willing to relocate; candidates already in the UAE are preferred. Benefits Salary: AED 2,800 per month. Employment visa, medical insurance and annual leave as per UAE Labour Law. Full-time position based at the company head office in Abu Dhabi, Finance Division. Exposure to multi-brand retail accounting across food, beauty and fashion with growth into a senior accountant role.
