With approximately 5,000 employees, it is one of the state’s larger employers and a key contributor to the regional economy, providing a collaborative environment for clinical care and academic advancement.Role Description The Assistant/Associate Professor in Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery is a full-time, on-site faculty role based in Farmington, CT. The position involves providing comprehensive oral and maxillofacial surgical care, including outpatient and inpatient services, and participation in call coverage as needed. Day-to-day responsibilities include teaching and supervising dental students, residents, and fellows in clinic, operating room, and classroom settings, as well as developing curricula and contributing to program improvement. The role includes engaging in scholarly activity such as clinical or translational research, quality improvement projects, and publications, along with participation in departmental, school, and institutional committees. The faculty member is expected to collaborate effectively with interdisciplinary teams, contribute to patient safety and quality care initiatives, and support the academic mission of UConn Health.Qualifications Advanced clinical expertise in oral and maxillofacial surgery, including diagnosis, treatment planning, and surgical management of dentoalveolar, orthognathic, trauma, pathology, and reconstructive cases.Strong academic skills in teaching, mentoring, and curriculum development for dental students, residents, and fellows, with an interest in innovative educational methods.Demonstrated ability to engage in research or scholarly activity, including clinical studies, outcomes research, or quality improvement projects, and dissemination of findings.Effective communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills to work within multidisciplinary teams and to provide patient-centered care in diverse populations.Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) or Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD) from an accredited institution; completion of an accredited Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery residency program.Eligibility for board certification in Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery (ABOMS) or board-certified status; eligibility for dental licensure in the State of Connecticut.Experience in an academic health center or teaching environment is highly desirable, along with a record or potential for securing research or educational grants.Commitment to equity, inclusion, and respectful patient and learner interactions, and adherence
