They are about understanding the market, identifying the right opportunity, evaluating commercial terms, supporting negotiations, protecting clients’ interests, and ensuring each fixture is handled professionally from initial inquiry through completion.The successful candidate will work closely with senior chartering management and international owners, charterers, brokers, traders, and cargo interests.KEY RESPONSIBILITIESThe successful candidate will support the chartering team from initial market inquiry through fixture and post-fixture follow-up, including:Monitoring dry bulk freight markets, vessel positions, cargo requirements, and market developments.Sourcing and evaluating suitable cargo and vessel opportunities.Reviewing vessel specifications, DWT, trading areas, laycan, loading/discharge ports, and operational requirements.Evaluating freight ideas, voyage economics, and commercial offers.Assisting with freight negotiations with shipowners, charterers, brokers, and cargo interests.Supporting Voyage Charter, Time Charter, and Spot Fixture negotiations.Preparing and reviewing Charter Party summaries, Recaps, and commercial terms.Coordinating with owners, charterers, Masters, agents, operations, and documentation teams.Following up on fixture status, vessel schedules, cargo readiness, port developments, and voyage performance.Supporting post-fixture communication and follow-up on commercial and contractual matters.Maintaining accurate records of cargoes, open tonnage, vessels, fixtures, and market information.Preparing market updates, commercial reports, and internal analyses.Developing and maintaining strong professional relationships with international counterparties.Identifying new business opportunities and supporting the continued expansion of BAHL Chartering’s international network.COMMERCIAL FOCUSThe role requires a practical understanding of the commercial factors behind successful dry bulk fixtures, including:Cargo requirements and vessel suitability.Vessel availability and positioning.Laycan and trading limitations.Freight levels and voyage economics.Charter Party terms and recap negotiations.Loading and discharge port requirements.Market movements and international trade flows.Commercial risk and counterparty considerations.WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FORWe are looking for someone who is commercially aware, proactive, analytical, and highly motivated to build a career in ship chartering.The ideal candidate should have:Strong interest in Ship Chartering and Dry Bulk Shipping.Good understanding of shipping terminology and basic chartering concepts.Understanding of vessel operations and freight market fundamentals.Ability to analyse cargo and vessel requirements.Strong numerical, analytical, and problem-solving skills.Good working knowledge of Microsoft Excel.Excellent English communication skills, both written and spoken.Ability to communicate confidently with international owners, charterers, brokers, and clients.Strong attention to detail and commercial awareness.Ability to manage multiple inquiries and priorities under time pressure.High level of integrity, confidentiality, professionalism, and accountability.Proactive attitude and strong willingness to learn and develop.QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCEBachelor’s degree in Maritime Studies, Business Administration, Economics, International Trade, Logistics, or a related field.Previous experience in Ship Chartering, Dry Bulk Shipping, Marine Brokerage, Commodity Trading, Shipping Operations, or Logistics is an advantage.Familiarity with Voyage Charter, Time Charter, Spot Fixtures, Charter Party terms, and freight markets is preferred.Experience using shipping market platforms, vessel databases, or commercial analysis tools is an advantage.Candidates with a strong maritime or operational background who are looking to develop into the commercial chartering side are also encouraged to apply.WHY JOIN BAHL CHARTERING?At BAHL Chartering, you will have the opportunity to work directly with the international dry bulk market and gain practical exposure to the complete chartering process.You will have the opportunity to:Work with international shipowners, charterers, brokers, traders, and cargo interests.Gain practical exposure to real chartering negotiations and fixtures.Develop knowledge of dry bulk freight markets and voyage economics.Build an international network within the maritime industry.Develop commercial, analytical, negotiation, and relationship-management skills.Grow professionally within an expanding maritime chartering company.EMPLOYMENT DETAILSPosition: Assistant Chartering Manager – Dry Bulk
