This role assists in coordinating and supervising daily preventive and corrective maintenance for building, mechanical, electrical, and safety systems to ensure optimal performance and guest comfort. The Assistant Chief Engineer helps manage maintenance staff schedules, monitors work quality, and ensures compliance with local regulations, brand standards, and safety protocols. Day-to-day responsibilities include responding to service requests, overseeing contractors and suppliers, maintaining accurate maintenance records, and supporting energy efficiency and sustainability initiatives. The role collaborates closely with other departments to minimize operational disruptions and contributes to planning and implementing property improvement projects.Qualifications Strong technical knowledge of building systems, including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and mechanical equipment, with experience in troubleshooting and preventive maintenance.Proficiency in using maintenance management systems, basic computer applications, and tools for documentation, reporting, and scheduling tasks.Demonstrated ability to supervise maintenance teams, coordinate workloads, and collaborate effectively with contractors, vendors, and internal stakeholders.Understanding of health, safety, and environmental regulations, with a commitment to safe work practices and compliance with local codes and brand standards.Relevant technical diploma or degree in engineering, building services, or a related field; professional certifications in maintenance or engineering disciplines are an advantage.Previous experience in a hotel, resort, or comparable hospitality environment, preferably in a supervisory or senior maintenance role.Strong communication and problem-solving skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks, respond rapidly to issues, and maintain a guest-focused mindset.Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays as needed, and to perform duties that may require physical effort such as inspections and equipment handling.
