Our client is a private equity-backed commercial HVAC and mechanical services provider headquartered in the Las Vegas area. The company has 200+ employees and operates across multiple geographies in the southern United States and plans to rapidly expand its operational footprint through continued strategic acquisitions and organic growth initiatives. The company has invested heavily in its systems architecture to build a scalable, data-driven organization, including a 2025 service platform upgrade and an ongoing ERP conversion.The company provides aftermarket commercial HVAC, refrigeration, and plumbing maintenance and repair services to clients. The company serves large, multi-location chain corporations, to include banks, retailers, and quick-service restaurants, that require comprehensive facility and general maintenance services for their property portfolios.This is a compelling opportunity for a talented, highly motivated individual to join the business at a pivotal stage and help build a professional finance organization capable of scaling with the company. The role reports to the CFO and has three direct reports: Staff Accountant, general ledger; and 2 Staff Accountants, cash applications. The company will look to the successful hire to: (1) maximize newly implemented system capabilities to reduce manual effort across the accounting and financial reporting continuum; (2) optimize, standardize, and document finance processes; (3) improve business visibility through enhanced financial and KPI reporting; and (4) support the integration of newly acquired businesses.The Assistant Controller is a key member of the team as this role ensures the integrity of financial reporting, compliance with regulatory requirements, and supports strategic decision-making through financial analysis and business insight.To perform this job satisfactorily, an individual must be able to perform each essential responsibility satisfactorily. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:Financial Close: Lead monthly close processes (month-end, 5-day closing, and year-end close).Financial Reporting: Preparing and reviewing accurate financial statements (income statement, balance sheet & cash flow statements), including month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing processes.Financial Analysis: Analyzing financial data to identify trends, provide insights, and support strategic decision-making. Create P&L statements by location for local management to review. Assist in KPI creation & reporting.Budgeting and Forecasting: Assist in the development and management of the company’s annual budget, monitoring variances against the budget, and providing financial forecasts to management.Internal Controls: Assist in implementing and maintaining a system of internal controls to safeguard assets and ensure the accuracy of financial data. Review balance sheet account reconciliation, journal entries, and review of new vendor set up.Audit Coordination: Collaborate with external and/or internal auditors to facilitate the annual audit process.AR/Cash Application: Oversee Staff responsible for posting deposits and identifying credit/collection issues.Financial Administration: Oversee sales & use tax reporting and compliance. Assist in engaging outside agency to aid in these compliance efforts.Acquisition integration: Assist with overall acquisition integration efforts, including treasury & credit card cutovers, service platform integration, chart of accounts mapping & opening balance sheet work.KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITY:An ideal candidate will have some public accounting and commercial service and/or construction industry experienceDeep knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting, and internal controlsProficiency with accounting software and ERP platforms (e.g. QuickBooks, Sage) and financial reporting toolsExperience with budgeting, variance analysis, and audit preparationStrong Excel and financial modeling skills (pivot tables/vlookup/xlookup/ sumifs/nested formulas/etc.)Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and work in a fast-paced environmentStrong analytical and problem-solving skillsExcellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skillsStrong leadership and team developmentDeadline-driven with attention to accuracy and detailStrong experience with month-end close and financial consolidationsAcquisition integration experience, including opening balance sheet accounting, is a plusExperience with percentage of completion revenue recognition a plusBachelor’s degree in accountingCertified Public Accountant (CPA) recommended, not requiredPreferred Qualifications:Five to seven years of progressive accounting experienceExperience in public accounting or audit helpfulBackground in multi-entity or multi-location accounting environmentsFamiliarity with ASC 805ENVIRONMENTAL JOB REQUIREMENTS AND WORKING CONDITIONS:Candidates must have a valid driver’s license.All prospective employees must pass a background check.General office environment, except when on project site when one could encounter environmental/atmospheric conditions.BENEFITSPTOMedical, dental, vision, and other ancillary voluntary insurance products available401K available
