Apply & track with Apply EdgeVenesky-Brown’s client, a public sector organisation in Aberdeen, is currently looking to recruit 2 x Assistant Economist for contracts until 31st March 2027 on rates of £21.77/hour PAYE. Hybrid working, monthly meeting onsite with occasional travel to Glasgow and Edinburgh.All applicants must have the right to work in the UK at the time of application and be resident in the UK.Responsibilities - To support delivery of high-quality economic analysis that informs the development, appraisal, and implementation of the economic case for SAFER- To apply innovative analytical approaches, including modelling and evidence synthesis, to improve knowledge of the future impact and demand of food law delivery and sustainable funding options.- To communicate evidence-based insights and recommendations effectively, supporting senior officials to make informed decisions.- Report to the SAFER Economist and support the vision statement and objectives of the programme.Essential Skills:- Support the design and delivery of analytical projects in the programme team’s programme of economic analysis, taking responsibility for specific projects.- Undertake high-quality economic analysis using a range of methods, including economic modelling, cost-benefit analysis, data analysis, evidence reviews, and the synthesis of existing research to inform decisions.- Assist colleagues, working closely with them to help influence and shape policy and delivery.- Develop oral and written communication and data skills to communicate economic analysis clearly through written briefings and presentations.- Develop technical economic expertise through applying economic concepts and developing quantitative skills in packages such as R.- Manage specific projects and contracts as required.Desirable Skills:- First or upper second-class honours degree in economics (or international equivalent), or a postgraduate degree in economics.
