Assistant Farm Manager – Livestock & VegetationJob SummaryWe are looking for an experienced Assistant Farm Manager to support the day-to-day management of a farm with both livestock and vegetation/crop operations. The role will assist in supervising farm activities, livestock care, crop and plantation maintenance, irrigation, farm workers, equipment, and general farm operations while ensuring productivity, hygiene, safety, and proper resource utilization.Key ResponsibilitiesLivestock ManagementAssist in managing daily livestock operations, including feeding, watering, cleaning, handling, and monitoring of animals.Monitor animal health, behavior, growth, nutrition, and general condition.Coordinate with veterinarians regarding vaccinations, treatments, breeding, and disease prevention.Maintain proper livestock housing, hygiene, sanitation, and biosecurity standards.Monitor feed, fodder, supplements, medicines, and livestock-related inventory.Maintain accurate records of animal numbers, births, deaths, vaccinations, treatments, breeding, and production.Identify signs of illness, injury, stress, or abnormal animal behavior and report them promptly.Assist with breeding, calving/lambing/kidding, weaning, and other livestock activities as applicable.Ensure proper handling and movement of animals while minimizing stress and injury.Vegetation & Crop ManagementAssist in planning and supervising planting, cultivation, harvesting, pruning, trimming, and general vegetation maintenance.Monitor the health and growth of vegetables, plants, trees, crops, grass, and other farm vegetation.Ensure appropriate irrigation, fertilization, soil preparation, pest control, and weed management.Monitor irrigation systems, water usage, pumps, tanks, and related equipment.Coordinate with farm workers for planting, harvesting, landscaping, cleaning, and maintenance activities.Identify plant diseases, pest infestations, nutrient deficiencies, and other agricultural issues.Ensure proper storage and handling of seeds, fertilizers, pesticides, tools, and agricultural materials.Farm Operations & SupervisionAssist the Farm Manager in planning and coordinating daily farm activities.Supervise farm laborers, animal handlers, gardeners, agricultural workers, and other farm staff.Allocate daily duties and monitor employee attendance, productivity, and work quality.Ensure farm machinery, tools, vehicles, irrigation systems, and other equipment are properly maintained.Monitor consumption of feed, water, fertilizers, pesticides, seeds, fuel, and other resources.Maintain farm cleanliness, organization, and proper waste-management practices.Assist with procurement requirements and maintain adequate stock of farm supplies.Prepare daily/weekly operational reports for the Farm Manager.Support farm improvement projects, expansion activities, and implementation of modern farming practices.Health, Safety & ComplianceEnsure compliance with farm safety, hygiene, animal welfare, and environmental requirements.Ensure employees use appropriate PPE and follow safe working procedures.Maintain proper chemical handling and storage procedures.Ensure safe operation of farm machinery and equipment.Implement appropriate biosecurity and disease-prevention measures.Report accidents, animal incidents, equipment failures, and other operational issues immediately.Required QualificationsDiploma or Bachelor's degree in Agriculture, Animal Husbandry, Veterinary Science, Horticulture, Agribusiness, or a related field.Relevant experience in farm operations involving both livestock and vegetation/crop management.Experience supervising farm workers and coordinating daily agricultural activities.Practical knowledge of livestock handling, animal care, feeding, breeding, and basic health monitoring.Knowledge of irrigation, planting, fertilization, pest control, harvesting, and vegetation maintenance.Basic understanding of farm machinery, equipment, and irrigation systems.Good record-keeping and reporting skills.Physically fit and comfortable working in an outdoor farm environment.Preferred ExperienceExperience working on large farms, farmhouses, agricultural estates, or private/villa farms.Experience handling multiple livestock species such as cattle, sheep, goats, poultry, camels, or other farm animals.Experience with vegetable cultivation, fruit trees, landscaping, greenhouse operations, or general plantation management.Experience managing farm operations in a hot or arid climate is an advantage.Veterinary or agricultural technical knowledge will be an added advantage.
