Position Title - Assistant Manager - Vendor Development ForgingLocation - Oragadam

Job Description

The Vendor Development - Forging (Sourcing & Logistics) leads the identification, evaluation, and onboarding of component suppliers to support New Product Development (NPD), engineering changes, capacity expansion, and component replacements. Leveraging deep expertise in Gears, NPD, Process Engineering, and Manufacturing Engineering, the role ensures continuous supply while strictly adhering to quality, cost, and delivery targets up to the Start of Production (SOP) handover.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Sourcing & DFM OptimizationReview engineering designs/BOMs, execute RFQs, and lead Design for Manufacturing (DFM) evaluations with suppliers to ensure technical feasibility, part reliability, and cost-efficient production especially for gear and engineered components.Cost Management & Commercial ComplianceCollaborate with Cost Management to establish target pricing, evaluate vendor proposals to fit within target bands, and oversee overall vendor operations, performance tracking, and payment processing.Part Qualification & Quality GovernanceManage the Production Part Approval Process (PPAP), supervise Supplier Quality Engineers (SQEs), conduct audits, and resolve quality non-conformances to lower rejection rates and hit Direct-on-Line (DOL) targets.Cross-Functional Alignment & Production HandoverWork closely with NPD, Current Engineering, and Quality Assurance to monitor lead times and facilitate a seamless operational handover to the mass-procurement team for the Start of Production (SOP).Desired Skills & Experience:

• B.E. / B. Tech in Mechanical /Automobile Engineering
• 8+ years’ experience in the Gear development process in the automobile industry(OEMs, ancillaries)
• Commodity - Forging & machining / Gear products
