Assistant Manager Materials

**About TAARK**TAARK designs and manufactures electric vehicles for industrial and commercial use: electric load carriers, brick-transport EVs, electric tippers, forklifts, custom application vehicles and L5 commercial EVs (TAARK GLADIA). Our customers are brick kilns, textile mills, cement, agro and poultry units, hospitals and campuses across South India. We are an engineering-first company building from our plant at Kinathukadavu, Coimbatore.**Role purpose**Own what TAARK pays for every part and who we buy it from. You will cost parts from the drawing up, choose and develop the right suppliers, and make sure material reaches the line on time at the right quality and price.**Key responsibilities**- Part costing: build should-cost (zero-based) estimates for any kind of part, including sheet metal and fabrication, machined parts, castings and forgings, plastics and rubber, wiring harness and electricals, and bought-out items such as motors, controllers, batteries and axles.- Negotiate prices using cost break-ups: raw material, process, tooling, overheads and profit.- Supplier assessment and evaluation: audit new suppliers on capability, capacity, quality system and financial health; approve and onboard them.- Supplier rating: track quality, delivery and cost every month and drive improvement plans.- Agreements: issue and manage NDAs, supply agreements, tooling agreements and price-revision terms with suppliers.- New part development with R&D and Quality: RFQ, sample approval, PPAP and tooling follow-up.- Material planning and purchase: MRP from the production plan, PO release, follow-up and shortage control.- Stores and inventory: stock accuracy, reorder levels, non-moving stock.- Cost reduction: value engineering, alternate sources and localisation of imported parts.- Weekly materials MIS to management: price variance, savings, shortages, supplier on-time delivery and inventory.**What you will be measured on**- Material cost reduction against target- Should-cost vs actual purchase price- Supplier on-time delivery and rejection rate- Line stoppages due to material- Inventory value and stock accuracy- New parts developed on time-Localization against imports**What you bring (must have)**- 6–10 years in sourcing, purchase or materials in an automotive, EV or engineering manufacturing company.- Hands-on zero-based / should-costing of parts across more than one commodity.- Supplier audits, assessment and rating done personally.- Experience handling NDAs and supplier agreements.- Working knowledge of ERP / MRP and strong Excel.- Based in or willing to relocate to Pollachi / Kinathukadavu / Coimbatore.**Good to have**- EV parts sourcing: motors, controllers, batteries, chargers.- Import sourcing and landed-cost calculation.- PPAP / APQP exposure and tooling cost estimation.**Education:** BE or Diploma in Mechanical, Automobile, Production or Electrical Engineering.
