Role PurposeThis role supports the Direct Procurement team in managing the end-to-end procurement of packaging materials. The position is responsible for sourcing suppliers, negotiating contracts, and ensuring packaging materials are delivered on time and at the best possible cost, in line with the directs ordering book. Key responsibilities include evaluating and managing suppliers, supporting the development of procurement strategies, monitoring market trends to identify cost-saving opportunities, and maintaining strong relationships with both internal and external stakeholders. The role also ensures all procurement records and documentation are kept accurate and up to date.Key ResponsibilitiesSourcing and Vendor ManagementIdentify, assess, and select suppliers for directs procurement category, with an emphasis on packaging materials.Place purchase orders for packaging materials, ensuring timely delivery and adherence to quality standards.Negotiate contracts and agreements to secure favourable terms, pricing, and service levels.Continuously evaluate vendor performance and develop strategies for improvement.Procurement StrategyDevelop and implement procurement strategies that align with the organization’s goals, ensuring cost savings and efficiency.Collaborate with department heads to understand their procurement requirements and provide tailored solutions.Monitor supplier performance, conduct regular audits, and address any quality or delivery issuesCategory ManagementLead and oversee the procurement process for packaging material category.Stay updated on industry trends and market conditions to make informed procurement decisions.Cost OptimizationIdentify cost-saving opportunities and implement cost reduction initiatives within the assigned categories.Ensure that procurement activities adhere to budget constraints.Compliance and Risk ManagementEnsure compliance with all relevant legal and regulatory requirements.Mitigate procurement-related risks and develop contingency plans as needed.Process ImprovementContinuously improve procurement processes and workflows, streamlining operations to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.Implement best practices and automation tools to optimize the procurement function.Cross-functional CollaborationCollaborate with various internal departments, including Marketing, NPD, Manufacturing, Central Planning, Inbound and Outbound Logistics to get insights and plan the monthly procurement cycle effectively. communication and cooperation between departments and procurement.Reporting and Documentation Maintain accurate records of procurement transactions, contracts, and vendor performance.Prepare reports and presentations for management, highlighting procurement achievements, cost savings, and performance metrics.Quality AssuranceEnsure that packaging materials meet the company's quality standards and comply with relevant regulations.Conduct quality inspections and audits to verify product quality.Role RequirementsMaster's/bachelor’s degree in a relevant fields such as Business Management , Supply Chain Management or Procurement and Operations. Having a qualification in materials management will be an added advantage.Minimum of 3+ years of relevant procurement experience with a focus to direct material category in FMCG industryProven track record of achieving cost savings and process improvements in previous procurement roles.Experience in utilizing procurement software and tools to streamline operations and enhance productivity.Familiarity with legal and regulatory requirements pertaining to procurement.Exposure to procurement software and tools such as SAP, SAP Ariba etc.Experience in drafting, reviewing, and managing contracts to secure favorable terms and mitigate risks.In-depth knowledge of procurement principles, practices and strategies especially in the areas of commodity markets, direct materials and exposure to material requirement planning would be crucial.Strong negotiation and contract management skills.Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.Analytical mindset and the ability to make data-driven decisions.Legal and regulatory requirements pertaining to procurement process.Cross-functional collaboration and building professional relationships with internal & external stakeholders.
