Assistant Procurement ManagerCork City | Procurement | Full-TimeAbout the RoleBaker Finn Recruitment is currently recruiting an Assistant Procurement Manager on behalf of our client, a well-established Irish wholesale organisation based in Cork City.This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced procurement professional to take the next step in their career, working closely with the Head of Procurement across procurement strategy, supplier and range management, inventory, cost and price optimisation, and performance management.The successful candidate will be commercially focused, analytical and ambitious, with strong negotiation and supplier management capabilities and the potential to progress within the organisation.Key ResponsibilitiesProcurement Strategy & Commercial SupportSupport the Head of Procurement in delivering and developing the organisation’s procurement strategy.Provide commercial and analytical support across purchasing activity, cost management and pricing optimisation.Analyse procurement and commercial information to identify opportunities to improve value, efficiency and performance.Supplier & Range ManagementManage and develop supplier relationships to support strong commercial and operational performance.Support supplier negotiations to achieve competitive pricing, favourable terms and sustainable supply arrangements.Contribute to the management and optimisation of product ranges in line with commercial and customer requirements.Inventory & Performance ManagementMonitor purchasing and inventory activity to support appropriate stock availability and efficient inventory management.Support cost and price optimisation initiatives and identify opportunities for improved commercial performance.Monitor supplier and procurement performance against agreed objectives and support continuous improvement activities.Cross-Functional CollaborationWork closely with internal stakeholders to ensure procurement activity is aligned with wider business requirements.Provide clear procurement and supplier insights to support effective commercial decision-making.Knowledge, Skills & Experience3–5 years’ relevant procurement experience.Strong supplier management skills with experience developing effective supplier relationships.Proven negotiation capability and the ability to achieve positive commercial outcomes.Strong commercial awareness with an understanding of cost, pricing and procurement considerations.Strong analytical skills with the ability to use data to support procurement and commercial decision-making.Results-driven with the ability to manage priorities effectively within a busy commercial environment.Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.Candidate ProfileCommercially focused, analytical and ambitious.Proactive and results-driven approach.Strong negotiation, communication and relationship-management skills.Demonstrated potential and desire to progress within the organisation.BenefitsPermanent positionPerformance bonusPension planMedical Expenses Contribution SchemeTraining and further education supportCareer development opportunitiesDigital wellbeing platformOn-site parkingThe OpportunityThis is an excellent opportunity to develop within a well-established Irish wholesale business with a history dating back to 1920 and operations across Hardware, Steel, Wire, Fencing, Salt, Bathroom Supplies and Plumbing Materials.
