Through HEC’s foreign faculty program, IST benefits from a diverse body of experienced international teaching staff.Role Description The Assistant Professor role is a full-time, on-site position based at IST’s campus in Islamabad. The role involves delivering high-quality lectures, developing course materials, supervising laboratories, and guiding students in projects and research within relevant engineering or scientific disciplines. The Assistant Professor will conduct independent and collaborative research, publish in reputable journals and conferences, and seek external funding where applicable. Responsibilities include academic advising, mentoring students, participating in departmental committees, and contributing to curriculum development and continuous program improvement. The role also requires engagement in outreach, industry collaboration, and enhancement of IST’s academic and research profile.QualificationsA PhD in a relevant engineering, space science, or related discipline; a strong record of academic performance and research.Teaching and pedagogy: Demonstrated ability to design courses, deliver lectures, assess student performance fairly, and use modern teaching methods and educational technologies.Research and scholarship: Evidence of research experience, publications in peer-reviewed venues, and the potential to develop an independent research agenda aligned with IST’s focus areas.Academic communication: Strong written and oral communication skills in English for teaching, supervision, academic writing, and collaboration with local and international partners.Collaboration and service: Ability to work effectively in diverse teams, contribute to departmental and institutional committees, and engage with industry and research networks.Professional integrity: Commitment to inclusive, non-discriminatory academic practices, ethical research conduct, and support for student well‑being and development.Preferred experience: Prior university teaching experience, involvement in funded research projects, international exposure, and familiarity with accreditation and quality assurance processes.
