The presence of international students adds to the university’s multicultural and collaborative atmosphere.Role Description This full-time Assistant Professor role at Razi University is a hybrid position based in North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany, with the flexibility to perform some duties from home. The Assistant Professor will design and deliver undergraduate and graduate courses, prepare syllabi and learning materials, and assess student performance through assignments, exams, and projects. Daily responsibilities include conducting independent and collaborative research, publishing in peer-reviewed journals, and seeking external funding where appropriate. The role also involves mentoring and advising students, supervising thesis and dissertation work, and participating in departmental and university committees. The Assistant Professor is expected to contribute to curriculum development, engage in academic collaborations, and support the university’s mission of high-quality education and research.Qualifications Advanced academic preparation, typically a completed Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree in a relevant discipline; strong record or clear potential in teaching and research.Demonstrated ability to design and deliver university-level courses, including syllabus development, assessment design, and effective classroom and online teaching methods.Proven research skills, including conducting independent studies, publishing in reputable journals, presenting at conferences, and, where applicable, applying for research grants.Strong academic writing and communication abilities, with capacity to teach and collaborate in English; additional language skills are an advantage.Experience supervising or mentoring students, supporting diverse learning needs, and fostering an inclusive, respectful, and non-discriminatory academic environment.Ability to work effectively in a hybrid setting, manage time and responsibilities independently, and collaborate with colleagues across departments and locations.Familiarity with digital tools for teaching and research (e.g., learning management systems, online collaboration platforms, data analysis or discipline-specific software).Prior university teaching experience and international academic exposure are highly beneficial; willingness to participate actively in departmental service and academic governance.
