ASSISTANT PROFESSOR ENGLISH

The Assistant Professor of English is responsible for delivering quality instruction, mentoring students, and conducting research. The incumbent will support academic excellence through effective teaching, assessment, research supervision, and participation in institutional and co-curricular activities. Key Deliverables: Deliver lectures and tutorials as per the approved curriculum.Prepare course outlines, lesson plans, assignments, and teaching materials.Evaluate and grade students' assignments, presentations, and examinations.Maintain student attendance, assessment, and academic records.Provide academic advising and mentoring to students.Contribute to continuous improvement of teaching methodologies.Supervise undergraduate research projects and internships.Conduct and publish research and seek research funding opportunities.Encourage students' participation in research, literary activities, and critical thinking.Recommend academic resources and reading materials for the library.Participate in admissions, student recruitment, orientation, and placement activities.Serve on academic and administrative committees as assigned.Participate in co-curricular, literary, community engagement, and institutional events.Perform other assigned residential duties.Maintain professional competence through continuous learning and participation in conferences, seminars, and workshops.Perform any other duties assigned by the Principal or competent authority. Skills & CompetenciesStrong command of English Literature, Linguistics, and English Language Teaching.Knowledge of Phonetics, Phonology, Syntax, Semantics, Sociolinguistics, TEFL, Pedagogical Grammar, and Teaching Methodologies.Excellent communication, presentation, classroom management, and research skills.Ability to develop students' reading, writing, listening, speaking, critical thinking, and academic writing skills.Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Google Classroom, Learning Management Systems (LMS), and Quality Enhancement Cell (QEC) documentation, data uploading, and academic reporting.Educational QualificationPhD in English Language or Literature from an HEC-recognized university.ExperienceMinimum three (3) years of teaching experience at the undergraduate (BS) level in a recognized university or higher education institution.Please send your resume at jobs@akhuwat.org.pk not later than August 10, 2026.
