The Assistant Professor will deliver undergraduate and, where applicable, postgraduate lectures in zoology, design and update course curricula, and prepare teaching materials aligned with institutional and regulatory guidelines. Daily responsibilities include guiding students in practical laboratory work, supervising projects and assignments, mentoring learners on academic and career development, and maintaining accurate records of attendance and performance. The role also involves engaging in scholarly activities such as research, publications, seminars, and conferences, contributing to departmental initiatives and accreditation efforts, and participating in academic committees and student outreach programs. The Assistant Professor is expected to collaborate with colleagues to enhance teaching quality, support a positive learning environment, and uphold the institution’s academic standards.QualificationsAdvanced academic background in Zoology or a closely related discipline (Master’s degree required; Ph.D. or registration in a doctoral program preferred), with specialization aligning with departmental needs.Demonstrated teaching abilities, including lesson planning, classroom management, student assessment, and use of varied pedagogical methods suitable for diverse learners.Strong foundation in zoological concepts and laboratory practices, including experience with practical demonstrations, experiment design, safety protocols, and maintenance of lab equipment.Research and scholarly skills, such as conducting independent or collaborative research, preparing manuscripts, presenting at conferences, and contributing to academic publications.Effective communication and interpersonal skills, including clear academic writing, confident public speaking, student mentoring, and constructive collaboration with colleagues and staff.Organizational and administrative abilities, including maintaining academic records, supporting accreditation processes, participating in departmental meetings, and contributing to academic planning.Comfort with educational technologies, such as learning management systems, digital content creation, online assessment tools, and basic data analysis software relevant to zoology.Awareness of current developments in zoology and higher education, commitment to continuous professional development, and readiness
