Position Title- Assistant Professor - AccountingSchool of Commerce and Management Studies (SCMS)Dayananda Sagar University, BengaluruRole PurposeThe Assistant Professor in Accounting will contribute to the academic excellence of the School of Commerce and Management Studies through effective teaching, scholarly research, student mentoring, industry engagement, curriculum development, and institutional service. The incumbent is expected to support the University's vision of outcome-based education (OBE), continuous improvement, innovation, and NBA accreditation requirements through measurable contributions to Program Outcomes (POs), Program Educational Objectives (PEOs), and graduate attributes.Key ResponsibilitiesA. Teaching, Learning & Outcome-Based Education (40%)Deliver undergraduate and postgraduate courses in Accounting and related domains.Teach courses such as: Financial Accounting, Corporate Accounting, Cost & Management Accounting, Auditing, Direct and Indirect Taxation, Financial Reporting and IFRS, Accounting Information Systems, Financial Statement Analysis.Prepare course files, lesson plans, teaching schedules, and assessment plans aligned with OBE requirements.Design and implement innovative pedagogical practices including case studies, simulations, experiential learning, flipped classrooms, and digital learning tools.Develop rubrics for assessment and map Course Outcomes (COs) with Program Outcomes (POs).Monitor attainment of COs and contribute to continuous quality improvement initiatives.Maintain academic records as per university and accreditation requirements.B. Research, Innovation & Consultancy (25%)Conduct quality research in Accounting, Finance, Auditing, Taxation, Sustainability Reporting, Corporate Governance, and related areas.Publish scholarly articles in Scopus, ABDC, Web of Science, UGC-CARE, and other reputable journals.Present research papers at national and international conferences.Apply for funded research projects, consultancy assignments, and sponsored programs.Develop interdisciplinary research collaborations within and outside the university.Contribute to patents, copyrights, case studies, books, and book chapters wherever applicable.C. Student Development & Mentoring (15%)Serve as faculty mentor for assigned students.Guide student projects, internships, dissertations, and capstone projects.Support students in professional certifications such as CA, CMA, ACCA, CPA, CFA, and related qualifications.Foster entrepreneurship, innovation, leadership, ethical conduct, and lifelong learning abilities among students.Monitor student progression, retention, and academic performance.D. Industry Engagement & Institutional Development (10%)Build collaborations with industry, professional bodies, accounting firms, and corporate organizations.Facilitate internships, live projects, guest lectures, industry visits, and placement initiatives.Engage with professional bodies including ICAI, ICMAI, ACCA, CII, and other relevant organizations.Contribute to curriculum enrichment based on industry requirements and emerging trends.E. Academic Administration & Accreditation (10%)Participate actively in NBA, NAAC, NIRF, AACSB, and other quality assurance initiatives.Maintain documentation and evidence related to teaching, assessment, research, and student outcomes.Serve on departmental and university committees.Organize conferences, FDPs, workshops, seminars, and outreach activities.Contribute to strategic initiatives of the School and University.Qualification RequirementsAs per UGC Regulations and University norms:PHD with Master's Degree in Commerce (M.Com) with specialization in Accounting, Finance, or related area with a minimum of 55% marks or equivalent grade & NET/SET qualification.Relevant industry experience in accounting, auditing, taxation, financial consulting, or corporate finance will be an added advantage.Preferred QualificationsProfessional qualifications such as: CA, CMA, ACCA, CPA, CFA.Certifications in Analytics, ERP, SAP, Power BI, IFRS, or allied domains.Evidence of research publications in indexed journals.About the School of Commerce and Management StudiesThe School of Commerce and Management Studies at Dayananda Sagar University is committed to academic excellence, innovation, research, industry integration, and outcome-based education.
