Assistant Professor of EducationThe Department of Education at Hartwick College invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track appointment at the rank of Assistant Professor starting in August 2027, pending final administrative approval. We seek candidates with expertise in Literacy Education, with experience or expertise in Physical Education desirable. We will consider candidates with expertise in one of the listed areas, with preference given to those with a greater breadth of experience. Minimum qualifications include Ph.D. or Ed.D. in Education or another immediately applicable discipline by the time of appointment, ABD candidates will be considered. Additionally, a minimum of three years of successful K-12 teaching experience is required for this position. Specific teaching assignments will include a variety of foundational and upper-level Education courses, including teaching methods and student teaching supervision. Teaching load will average 20 semester credit hours or their equivalent per academic year, and all faculty members teach during the College’s distinctive four-week January Term. The successful candidate must be committed to excellence and innovation in undergraduate teaching. Tenure-track faculty are expected to actively engage in scholarly or creative activities. Committee service, including campus wide and departmental governance, and academic advising are expected for re-appointment, tenure, and promotion.Hartwick operates as a community of learners where there is a very real sense of belonging and connection.
