Role DescriptionAn Assistant Professor / Professor is responsible for teaching, research, academic development, student mentorship, curriculum development, and contribution to the academic community within a university, college, research institution, or higher-education environment. The role combines subject-matter expertise with teaching excellence, research activities, academic leadership, and institutional engagement.Key responsibilities include designing and delivering lectures, seminars, tutorials, workshops, laboratory sessions, practical classes, and other academic activities; developing and updating course materials, syllabi, lesson plans, assignments, examinations, assessments, and learning resources; delivering engaging and academically rigorous instruction using appropriate teaching methodologies, digital-learning platforms, educational technologies, and interactive approaches; assessing student performance through examinations, assignments, projects, presentations, practical work, research papers, and other evaluation methods; providing constructive feedback and academic guidance to students; supervising undergraduate, postgraduate, master's, doctoral, and research students where applicable; supporting students with academic planning, research development, career preparation, and professional development; conducting original research and contributing to scholarly activities within the relevant academic discipline; developing research proposals and pursuing research funding, grants, partnerships, and collaborative projects; publishing research findings in peer-reviewed journals, academic books, conference proceedings, and other recognized scholarly publications; presenting research at academic conferences, seminars, workshops, and professional events; collaborating with researchers, academic institutions, industry organizations, government bodies, professional associations, and international partners; contributing to curriculum development, program reviews, accreditation activities, academic quality assurance, and educational innovation; participating in departmental meetings, faculty committees, academic boards, examination committees, and institutional activities; supporting student recruitment, admissions, orientation, academic advising, and university outreach activities where required; developing partnerships and interdisciplinary research initiatives; mentoring junior academic staff and supporting faculty development at the Professor level; contributing to academic leadership, strategic planning, research direction, and institutional development; reviewing academic papers, research proposals, dissertations, theses, and scholarly submissions where appropriate; participating in peer review, editorial activities, academic conferences, professional associations, and scholarly networks; incorporating emerging technologies, artificial intelligence, digital learning, data analytics, and innovative teaching methods into academic practice where appropriate; maintaining accurate academic, research, assessment, and student records; ensuring teaching and research activities follow institutional policies, academic standards, ethical requirements, and applicable regulations; and continuously contributing to teaching excellence, research impact, student success, academic innovation, and the development of the wider academic community.QualificationsMaster's degree or PhD in the relevant academic discipline, depending on institutional and program requirements.PhD or equivalent doctoral qualification is generally expected for Professor-level academic positions.Strong subject-matter expertise and comprehensive knowledge of the relevant academic field.Strong teaching, presentation, communication, research, analytical, and academic-writing skills.Knowledge of curriculum development, course design, assessment methodologies, educational technology, and student-centered learning.Strong research capabilities with the ability to develop research projects, publish scholarly work, and contribute to academic knowledge.Familiarity with academic databases, research methodologies, statistical-analysis tools, research software, and scholarly publishing platforms.Ability to supervise research students, dissertations, theses, projects, and academic assignments where applicable.Strong understanding of research ethics, academic integrity, citation standards, peer review, and scholarly communication.Experience with research grants, funding proposals, academic collaborations, or industry partnerships is advantageous.Familiarity with Learning Management Systems (LMS), online teaching platforms, digital classrooms, virtual laboratories, and educational technologies.Knowledge of AI-assisted research, generative AI, academic analytics, digital learning, and emerging educational technologies is beneficial.Strong ability to mentor students and contribute to academic and professional development.Ability to collaborate effectively with faculty members, researchers, students, administrators, industry partners, and external organizations.Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage teaching, research, supervision, publication, and academic-service responsibilities.Relevant professional memberships, academic awards, publications, research grants, or recognized scholarly achievements are advantageous.Strong commitment to academic integrity, intellectual curiosity, continuous learning, teaching excellence, and research innovation.High level of professionalism, independence, critical thinking, collaboration, and contribution to the academic community.
