Role DescriptionAn Assistant Professor / Professor is responsible for teaching, academic research, curriculum development, student supervision, scholarly activities, and service to the academic community. The role contributes to the development of academic programs, supports student learning, conducts research, publishes scholarly work, and participates in institutional activities within their academic discipline.Key responsibilities include designing and delivering undergraduate, postgraduate, and professional courses; preparing lectures, seminars, tutorials, workshops, laboratory sessions, practical activities, and other learning materials; developing and updating course content, syllabi, reading materials, assignments, assessments, and academic resources; delivering engaging and academically rigorous instruction using appropriate teaching methodologies and digital learning technologies; evaluating student performance through examinations, assignments, projects, presentations, practical assessments, and other assessment methods; providing constructive feedback and academic guidance to students; supervising undergraduate projects, master's dissertations, doctoral research, theses, and other academic work where applicable; advising students on academic progression, research topics, course selection, and professional development; conducting original research and contributing to scholarly projects within the relevant academic discipline; developing research proposals and seeking research funding, grants, partnerships, and institutional support; publishing research findings in peer-reviewed journals, academic books, conference proceedings, and other recognized scholarly outlets; presenting research at academic conferences, seminars, workshops, symposiums, and professional events; collaborating with researchers, universities, research institutions, industry organizations, government bodies, and professional associations; contributing to interdisciplinary research initiatives and academic collaborations; participating in curriculum reviews, program development, accreditation activities, academic committees, examinations, and quality-assurance processes; supporting the development of new academic programs, courses, research initiatives, and educational resources; mentoring students, junior academics, teaching assistants, and research staff where applicable; maintaining accurate records of teaching activities, assessments, research outputs, student supervision, publications, and academic contributions; utilizing learning-management systems, digital classrooms, educational software, data-analysis tools, AI-assisted teaching technologies, virtual laboratories, and other academic technologies where appropriate; incorporating innovative teaching methods, blended learning, online education, interactive learning, and technology-enhanced instruction; participating in faculty meetings, departmental activities, academic committees, institutional events, and community engagement initiatives; contributing to professional development activities and maintaining current knowledge within the academic discipline; supporting academic partnerships, exchange programs, public lectures, industry engagement, consultancy, and knowledge-transfer activities where applicable; maintaining high standards of academic integrity, research ethics, professional conduct, and student welfare; and continuously contributing to teaching excellence, research development, academic innovation, student success, and institutional advancement.QualificationsMaster's or Doctoral degree in the relevant academic discipline, depending on the position and institutional requirements.PhD or equivalent doctoral qualification is generally expected for Professor-level academic positions.Strong subject-matter expertise and comprehensive knowledge of the relevant academic field.Strong teaching, presentation, communication, academic-writing, and student-engagement skills.Ability to design curricula, course materials, assessments, learning activities, and academic programs.Strong understanding of research methodologies, academic publishing, research ethics, and scholarly standards.Ability to conduct independent research, analyze findings, prepare academic publications, and present research outcomes.Familiarity with academic databases, research-management platforms, statistical software, laboratory systems, citation-management tools, and digital research resources where relevant.Knowledge of online-learning platforms, learning-management systems, virtual classrooms, educational technologies, and AI-assisted academic tools is advantageous.Strong ability to supervise student research, dissertations, theses, projects, and academic assignments.Strong analytical, critical-thinking, problem-solving, and academic-reasoning abilities.Ability to collaborate with faculty members, researchers, students, administrators, industry partners, and external academic institutions.Strong academic writing and publication capabilities.Ability to contribute to research proposals, grant applications, academic conferences, journals, and scholarly projects.Knowledge of academic quality assurance, accreditation, assessment standards, and institutional policies.Relevant professional certifications, academic memberships, teaching qualifications, or professional registrations may be advantageous depending on the discipline.Strong commitment to academic integrity, research ethics, inclusivity, student development, and professional standards.High level of intellectual curiosity, professionalism, leadership, independence, and commitment to lifelong learning.Strong commitment to teaching excellence, research impact, knowledge development, academic innovation, and contribution to the wider academic community.
