Apply & track with Apply EdgeRole DescriptionAn Assistant Professor / Professor is responsible for delivering high-quality teaching, conducting academic research, supervising students, contributing to curriculum development, and supporting the academic and professional development of a university, college, or higher-education institution. The role involves teaching undergraduate and postgraduate courses, developing course materials, evaluating student performance, publishing scholarly research, participating in academic committees, securing research funding, and contributing to institutional development. The position is expected to maintain high standards of academic excellence, research integrity, professional ethics, and student engagement.Key ResponsibilitiesDeliver lectures, seminars, tutorials, workshops, practical sessions, and other academic activities.Develop and deliver high-quality courses in accordance with approved academic programs and institutional standards.Prepare course outlines, syllabi, lecture materials, presentations, assignments, examinations, and supplementary learning resources.Design engaging and effective teaching strategies appropriate to different student learning needs and academic levels.Teach undergraduate, postgraduate, professional, and continuing-education courses where required.Provide academic guidance, mentoring, consultation, and support to students.Maintain regular consultation hours and respond professionally to student academic enquiries.Assess student learning through assignments, examinations, projects, presentations, laboratory work, dissertations, and other assessment methods.Grade and provide constructive feedback on student work in accordance with institutional assessment policies.Maintain accurate student attendance, assessment, academic-progress, and course records.Supervise undergraduate research projects, master's dissertations, doctoral theses, internships, and other academic projects where applicable.Guide students in research methodology, academic writing, literature reviews, data analysis, research design, and scholarly communication.Develop and maintain updated course content based on developments in the relevant academic discipline.Review and improve curriculum content, teaching methods, assessment strategies, and learning outcomes.Participate in curriculum development, academic program reviews, accreditation processes, and quality-assurance activities.Conduct original research and contribute to the advancement of knowledge within the relevant academic field.Develop research proposals, research projects, studies, experiments, surveys, and scholarly investigations.Publish research findings in peer-reviewed journals, academic books, conference proceedings, and other appropriate scholarly publications.Present research findings at academic conferences, seminars, workshops, and professional events.Collaborate with academic researchers, universities, research institutions, industry partners, government organizations, and professional bodies.Apply for research grants, fellowships, scholarships, industry-funded projects, and other research funding opportunities.Manage funded research projects in accordance with approved budgets, timelines, research objectives, and institutional requirements.Maintain accurate research records, datasets, documentation, publications, research outputs, and project reports.Ensure all research activities comply with relevant ethical standards, institutional policies, research regulations, and applicable requirements.Participate in academic peer review, journal reviewing, conference committees, editorial activities, and scholarly networks where appropriate.Contribute to academic publications, research groups, laboratories, centers, institutes, and departmental research initiatives.Develop partnerships and collaborative research opportunities with external institutions, industry organizations, professional associations, and international universities.Participate in departmental, faculty, school, and university committees.Contribute to academic governance, strategic planning, accreditation, quality assurance, and institutional development activities.Attend faculty meetings, academic meetings, curriculum meetings, research meetings, examination boards, and other institutional activities.Support student recruitment, orientation, academic advising, open days, outreach programs, and university engagement activities.Participate in academic events, conferences, seminars, workshops, guest lectures, and public-engagement activities.Develop professional relationships with students, colleagues, researchers, industry professionals, alumni, and external stakeholders.Provide subject-matter expertise and academic advice within the relevant discipline.Contribute to professional development programs, executive education, industry training, consultancy, and community-engagement activities where applicable.Maintain professional knowledge through continuing education, academic conferences, research activities, professional memberships, and scholarly development.Use learning-management systems, digital teaching platforms, academic databases, research software, statistical tools, virtual-learning technologies, and other educational technologies.Incorporate digital learning, blended learning, online teaching, interactive tools, data analytics, and AI-assisted educational technologies where appropriate.Explore emerging technologies and innovative teaching methods to improve student engagement, learning outcomes, and academic delivery.Maintain appropriate records of teaching, research, supervision, publications, grants, academic service, and professional activities.Support junior academic staff, teaching assistants, research assistants, and postgraduate researchers through mentoring and academic guidance.Contribute to faculty and departmental strategic goals, performance targets, research development, and academic excellence.Promote academic integrity, professional ethics, inclusive learning, intellectual curiosity, and a respectful academic environment.Maintain confidentiality of student records, research data, examination materials, unpublished research, and other sensitive academic information.Perform other teaching, research, academic, administrative, supervisory, and institutional duties as assigned.QualificationsMaster's degree or PhD/Doctorate in the relevant academic discipline, depending on institutional and position requirements.For Professor-level positions, a strong record of academic research, publications, teaching, supervision, and academic leadership is normally expected.Previous university or higher-education teaching experience is preferred.Strong subject-matter expertise and academic knowledge in the relevant field.Demonstrated ability to design and deliver high-quality lectures, tutorials, seminars, practical classes, and other teaching activities.Strong research capability and demonstrated scholarly output appropriate to academic rank.Experience publishing research in peer-reviewed journals or other recognized academic publications is advantageous.Experience supervising undergraduate, postgraduate, master's, or doctoral students is beneficial.Strong understanding of curriculum development, assessment design, academic quality assurance, and higher-education practices.Strong academic writing, research, analytical, and critical-thinking skills.Excellent written and verbal communication skills.Strong presentation, teaching, mentoring, and interpersonal skills.Ability to communicate effectively with students, academic colleagues, researchers, administrators, industry partners, and external stakeholders.Experience applying for research grants and managing research projects is advantageous.Familiarity with academic research methodologies, statistical analysis, research databases, citation-management tools, and relevant discipline-specific software.Proficiency in Microsoft Office, presentation software, learning-management systems, and digital academic platforms.Familiarity with online learning, blended learning, educational technology, learning analytics, AI-assisted teaching tools, and digital research technologies is beneficial.Strong ability to manage teaching, research, student supervision, administrative responsibilities, and academic deadlines.Demonstrated ability to work independently while contributing effectively to multidisciplinary academic
