The role involves teaching undergraduate and postgraduate courses, mentoring students, publishing scholarly research, participating in academic activities, and supporting the university's educational, research, and professional objectives.Key ResponsibilitiesDeliver lectures, seminars, tutorials, workshops, laboratory sessions, and other academic activities.Develop, review, and update course syllabi, lecture materials, assignments, assessments, and teaching resources.Plan and deliver engaging, inclusive, and academically rigorous learning experiences.Assess student performance through examinations, assignments, projects, presentations, and other evaluation methods.Provide constructive feedback and academic guidance to students.Supervise undergraduate, postgraduate, master's, and doctoral students as applicable.Conduct original research and contribute to academic and research projects within the relevant discipline.Publish research findings in peer-reviewed journals, academic conferences, books, and other scholarly publications.Develop research proposals and pursue research grants, funding opportunities, partnerships, and collaborations.Participate in academic conferences, seminars, workshops, symposiums, and professional events.Collaborate with faculty members, researchers, institutions, industry partners, and professional organizations.Mentor students, research assistants, teaching assistants, and junior academic staff where applicable.Contribute to curriculum development, academic program reviews, accreditation activities, and quality-assurance processes.Participate in departmental meetings, academic committees, examination boards, and institutional initiatives.Maintain accurate records of teaching activities, student assessments, research projects, publications, and academic responsibilities.Provide academic advising, student mentoring, career guidance, and research supervision.Integrate current research, industry developments, technology, and professional practices into teaching.Promote academic integrity, ethical research practices, diversity, inclusion, and a positive learning environment.Participate in community engagement, consultancy, professional outreach, and knowledge-transfer activities where applicable.Maintain current knowledge of theories, methodologies, research developments, and emerging trends within the relevant academic field.Support institutional policies, academic standards, strategic objectives, and regulatory requirements.Contribute to continuous improvement of teaching quality, research performance, student outcomes, and academic programs.QualificationsAssistant Professor: Typically requires a Master's degree or PhD depending on the institution, academic discipline, and jurisdiction.Professor: Typically requires a PhD or equivalent doctoral qualification together with substantial teaching, research, and academic experience.Relevant academic qualification in the applicable subject area or discipline.Previous university, college, or higher-education teaching experience is preferred.Demonstrated research experience and academic publications are advantageous or required depending on academic rank.Strong knowledge of teaching methodologies, curriculum development, assessment, and academic practices.Strong research, analytical, critical-thinking, and academic writing skills.Excellent communication, presentation, mentoring, and interpersonal abilities.Experience supervising undergraduate, postgraduate, master's, or doctoral research students is advantageous.Familiarity with learning-management systems, academic databases, research software, and educational technologies.Strong record of scholarly publications, research projects, grants, conferences, or professional contributions for Professor-level appointments.Ability to work collaboratively in multidisciplinary academic and research environments.Strong organizational, time-management, project-management, and administrative skills.Professional, ethical, intellectually curious, collaborative, and student-focused.Strong commitment to academic excellence, high-quality teaching, research contribution, student development, scholarly integrity, professional development, and continuous academic improvement.
