Applicants who need an accommodation may contact socialmedia@msudenver.edu.Role Description The Assistant Vice President of Equity and Student Engagement is a full-time, on-site leadership role based in Denver, CO. This position provides strategic direction for university-wide equity initiatives and student engagement programs, collaborating with campus partners to foster an inclusive, student-centered environment. The role oversees the development, implementation, and assessment of programs that support student belonging, success, and retention, particularly for historically underrepresented and marginalized student populations. The Assistant Vice President leads and mentors staff, manages budgets and resources, and ensures alignment of equity and engagement efforts with institutional goals and policies. Day-to-day responsibilities include data-informed planning, stakeholder collaboration, policy and practice review, advocacy for inclusive practices, and representation of the division in campus committees and community partnerships.Qualifications Demonstrated experience and knowledge in equity-focused leadership, including work with diverse, historically underrepresented, and marginalized student populations.Strong background in student engagement, student affairs, or related areas, with experience designing and assessing programs that promote belonging, retention, and student success.Proficiency in applying data, research, and assessment to inform policies, initiatives, and decision-making in higher education environments.Advanced communication, facilitation, and collaboration skills, with the ability to build inclusive partnerships across faculty, staff, students, and community stakeholders.Leadership and management experience, including supervising professional staff, managing budgets, and guiding strategic planning and implementation.Understanding of and commitment to equity-minded practices, inclusive pedagogy, and compliance with relevant higher education regulations and policies.Relevant graduate degree (e.g., Master’s or higher in Higher Education, Student Affairs, Public Administration, Social Sciences, or related field) strongly preferred.Experience in finance-related areas such as equities, private equity, investments, and trading, with the ability to apply financial insights to resource allocation, program funding, and strategic planning.
