Apply & track with Apply EdgeAssociate Director - Complex Investigations We are seeking an experienced investigations professional to join a specialist team working on complex international disputes, litigation, arbitration and enforcement matters.This opportunity may be particularly relevant to lawyers, former prosecutors, government investigators or investigative professionals who have worked alongside legal teams on sophisticated contentious matters and are interested in applying that experience within a specialist investigations environment.The emphasis is on complex, evidence-led investigations: understanding the underlying legal case, identifying what needs to be established, developing investigative strategies and pursuing lines of enquiry that can materially advance litigation, arbitration or enforcement proceedings.The RoleWork on complex international investigations arising from litigation, arbitration, fraud, corruption, asset recovery and other contentious situations.Develop investigative strategies alongside lawyers, counsel and clients, translating legal issues into practical lines of enquiry.Identify and develop documentary, testimonial and other evidence capable of supporting legal proceedings.Investigate individuals, companies, transactions, relationships, ownership structures, assets and commercial interests across multiple jurisdictions.Trace assets and support judgment and arbitral award enforcement.Review and analyse corporate records, court filings, litigation materials, public records and other evidential sources.Identify potential witnesses, sources and other individuals with relevant knowledge and, where appropriate, approach and interview them.Assess competing accounts, identify evidential gaps and inconsistencies, and determine how lines of enquiry should progress.Produce clear, concise and evidentially robust written work for lawyers, counsel and senior clients.Work directly with clients and legal teams throughout the lifecycle of an investigation.Undertake international enquiries and fieldwork where appropriate.ProfileApproximately 8–12+ years’ relevant professional experience.Significant experience conducting or supporting complex investigations where evidence, legal strategy and contentious proceedings are central to the matter.Potential backgrounds include disputes or investigations lawyers, former prosecutors, government or regulatory investigators, litigation-support investigators, and specialists from investigations or disputes consultancies.Experience of matters involving litigation, arbitration, fraud, corruption, misconduct, asset recovery, enforcement or other sophisticated commercial disputes would be particularly relevant.Able to take a complex factual situation and independently develop hypotheses, lines of enquiry and an investigative strategy.Strong understanding of evidence: how it is identified, tested, corroborated and ultimately used within a legal or contentious process.Experience interviewing witnesses, sources, subjects or other relevant individuals would be valuable.Strong analytical and written skills, with the ability to turn large volumes of fragmented information into clear findings that lawyers and clients can use.Comfortable operating across jurisdictions and dealing with complex corporate structures, international counterparties and incomplete or conflicting information.Additional languages and substantial international experience would be advantageous.Legal qualifications are welcome but are not essential.This is not a traditional law-enforcement, banking investigations, AML or financial-crime compliance position.
