This role is built around hands-on technical credibility: the ability to sit in front of a client during a live escalation, understand the problem, and work directly with the delivery/engineering lead to resolve it — not simply relay status between the client and the technical team.This is explicitly not a program management, delivery-operations, or Scrum Master role. Success is measured by the technical quality and business impact of what gets delivered, and by the individual's ability to hold a real technical conversation — architecture, data, models — with client stakeholders.The Associate Principal will be based in — or willing to relocate to — Bentonville, Arkansas, and will work closely with senior client stakeholders, delivery teams, and global partners.Primary ResponsibilitiesLead end-to-end technical delivery of data, AI, and analytics engagements, owning solution quality, technical accuracy, and timelinesServe as the senior technical face of MathCo in client conversations, including live escalations — engaging directly on architecture, data, and modeling questions rather than routing themTranslate complex business challenges into concrete, technical data & AI solution designsGuide solution architecture discussions and act as a hands-on advisor on data science, analytics, and AI approachesPartner closely with delivery and engineering leads to resolve technical issues in real time, particularly in fast-moving, ad hoc engagementsPartner with global delivery teams in India to execute programs at scale using MathCo's hybrid operating modelEnsure technical accuracy, consistency, and measurable business outcomes across all deliverablesAdditional ResponsibilitiesMaintain strong executive relationships with client stakeholders, grounded in technical credibility rather than account management aloneIdentify and pursue account growth opportunities based on delivery success and evolving client needsContribute to business development and technical solution shaping in collaboration with sales and leadership teamsContribute to internal knowledge building and best practicesKey Attributes & Experience10-15 years of hands-on experience in analytics, data science, AI/ML, or data engineering delivery — tenure is flexible for candidates who are genuinely strong technicallyReal, demonstrable technical fluency in data platforms & architectures, AI/ML solution design, advanced analytics, and cloud environments (Azure/GCP)Track record owning technical delivery outcomes on client engagements — not coordinating or reporting on themComfortable being the technical point of contact in live client escalations, working alongside (not in place of) the delivery/engineering leadAbility to conduct deep technical conversations with client stakeholders and translate technical concepts into business valueWalmart or broader retail environment familiarity strongly preferred; candidates from Tredence, Tiger Analytics, Mu Sigma, Quantiphi, Fractal, or similar AI/analytics consultancies are welcomeExcellent executive communication paired with genuine technical depth — this is explicitly not a Scrum Master, TPM, or program-management profileBachelor's degree required; Master's or MBA preferredLocation RequirementThis role is based in Bentonville, Arkansas.
