Associate Professor

I am an Associate Professor in the Department of Community Medicine at AIIMS Jammu, Jammu & Kashmir, with over eight years of professional experience in Community Medicine and Public Health following my MD in Community Medicine from the All India Institute of Hygiene and Public Health, Kolkata, and Senior Residency in Community Medicine at AIIMS Nagpur. My professional experience includes working with JHPIEGO as a Technical Officer and with ICMR as a Consultant Epidemiologist, providing multidisciplinary exposure to public health research, epidemiology, programme implementation, and health systems. I have served as Principal Investigator of an ICMR-funded national health research project with a budget exceeding ₹3 crore and currently contribute as Co-Investigator to two additional ICMR-funded research projects. I am actively engaged in medical education, research, and mentorship, including supervision of an MBBS student who received ICMR-STS funding and an MD student whose research received DST funding. I have also been actively involved in the development and strengthening of the Rural Health and Training Centre at AIIMS Jammu and currently serve as Officer-in-Charge for Outreach and the Rural Health and Training Centre. I have authored more than 30 scientific publications, including over 20 indexed in PubMed, with an h-index of 12. I also contribute to the academic peer-review process for reputed national and international journals, including BMJ, PLOS, Indian Journal of Public Health, Indian Journal of Community Medicine, and the Medical Journal of Armed Forces India. My professional interests encompass public health research, epidemiology, community-based interventions, health systems strengthening, medical education, and evidence-based approaches to improving population health.
