Job DescriptionPosition: Associate Professor – BiotechnologyDepartment: Amity Institute of Biotechnology (AIB)Location: Amity University Jharkhand, RanchiEmployment Type: Full-timeJob SummaryAmity University Jharkhand invites applications from accomplished academicians and researchers for the position of Associate Professor – Biotechnology. The selected candidate will contribute to excellence in teaching, research, innovation, consultancy, and academic administration while supporting the University's vision of promoting interdisciplinary research and industry-oriented education. The role involves mentoring students, guiding research scholars, developing funded research projects, and strengthening collaborations with academia, industry, and government agencies. The Biotechnology programmes at the University include undergraduate, postgraduate, and research programmes in diverse areas of biotechnology.Key ResponsibilitiesTeaching & Academic DeliveryTeach undergraduate and postgraduate courses in Biotechnology and allied Life Sciences.Deliver lectures, laboratory courses, tutorials, seminars, and project-based learning.Develop innovative teaching methodologies using digital and blended learning tools.Supervise laboratory practicals, internships, industrial training, and student projects.Guide undergraduate and postgraduate dissertations and research projects.Research & InnovationEstablish an active research programme in Biotechnology or a related specialization.Publish high-quality research papers in SCI/Scopus-indexed journals.Obtain research funding from agencies such as DBT, DST, ICMR, CSIR, SERB/ANRF, ICAR, or industry.File patents, develop technologies, and promote innovation and entrepreneurship.Guide Ph.D. scholars and contribute to interdisciplinary research initiatives.Academic AdministrationParticipate in curriculum development in accordance with NEP, UGC, and university guidelines.Contribute to accreditation and quality assurance initiatives (NAAC, NBA, etc.).Serve on Boards of Studies, departmental committees, examination committees, and academic councils.Organize conferences, workshops, faculty development programmes, and outreach activities.Participate in student admissions, mentoring, and academic counselling.Industry & Institutional CollaborationDevelop collaborations with biotechnology industries, hospitals, research laboratories, and academic institutions.Promote consultancy, incubation, innovation, and technology transfer activities.Facilitate internships, industrial visits, collaborative projects, and placement initiatives.Essential QualificationsB.Sc./B.Tech. in Biotechnology or a relevant Life Sciences discipline with an excellent academic record.M.Sc./M.Tech. in Biotechnology or a related specialization with First Class or equivalent.Ph.D. in Biotechnology, Molecular Biology, Microbiology, Biochemistry, Bioinformatics, Genetics, Cell Biology, Immunology, or a closely related discipline from a recognized university.Fulfil eligibility criteria prescribed under applicable UGC regulations and university norms.ExperienceTypically 8–10 years of teaching, research, or industry experience after the Ph.D., with demonstrated academic achievements.Experience in supervising postgraduate students and research scholars.Proven record of quality publications, funded research, patents, or consultancy projects.Experience in curriculum design, academic administration, and outcome-based education is desirable.Preferred Areas of SpecializationAnimal BiotechnologyReproductive BiotechnologyAnimal Cell CultureMolecular GeneticsAnimal GenomicsStem Cell BiologyImmunotechnologyVaccine DevelopmentMolecular DiagnosticsGenome Editing (e.g., CRISPR)Transgenic Animal TechnologyProteomics and Functional GenomicsLivestock BiotechnologyDesired CompetenciesStrong theoretical and laboratory expertise in Biotechnology.Experience with advanced molecular biology and analytical instrumentation.Ability to attract externally funded research projects.Excellent scientific writing and publication record.Strong communication, leadership, mentoring, and interpersonal skills.Experience with interdisciplinary research and industry collaborations.Familiarity with digital learning platforms and outcome-based education.
