Company Description The Tufts Center for the Study of Drug Development (CSDD) is an independent, academic, non-profit research group at Tufts University in Boston, Massachusetts. CSDD conducts pioneering research that supports drug developers, regulators, and policy makers in improving the quality and efficiency of pharmaceutical and biopharmaceutical development, review, and utilization. The Center monitors and reports on global trends in drug innovation, regulation, and use, and explores economic, legal, scientific, and public policy issues affecting the sector worldwide. It serves as a key information resource on new therapeutic agents and sponsors public forums and conferences that bring together perspectives from government, industry, academia, and public health. CSDD aims to raise the level of national and international debate on issues related to drug and biopharmaceutical product development and regulation.Role Description The Associate Professor of Economic Analysis will conduct independent and collaborative research on the economics of pharmaceutical and biopharmaceutical innovation, development, regulation, and utilization. Day-to-day responsibilities include designing and executing empirical economic studies, analyzing data, preparing research reports and peer-reviewed publications, and presenting findings to academic, industry, regulatory, and public audiences. The role includes teaching and mentoring at the university level, contributing to curriculum development in economics and health-related policy, and supervising student research. The Associate Professor will also help secure research funding, participate in interdisciplinary projects, and support public forums and conferences organized by the Center. This is a full-time remote role, with regular virtual collaboration with colleagues at Tufts University and external partners.Qualifications Strong foundation in Economics, with demonstrated expertise in Microeconomics and Macroeconomics.Knowledge of International Economics and its application to global pharmaceutical and biopharmaceutical markets.Proven experience in University Teaching, including course design, instruction, and student mentorship.Advanced skills in quantitative and qualitative research methods, including econometrics, data analysis, and interpretation.Doctoral degree (PhD or equivalent) in Economics or a closely related field.Record of scholarly publications and contributions to policy-relevant research in health, pharmaceutical, or related sectors.Ability to communicate complex economic concepts clearly to diverse audiences, both technical and non-technical.Experience working remotely and collaboratively with interdisciplinary teams; strong organizational and time-management skills.Familiarity with regulatory environments, health policy, or drug development processes is highly beneficial.
