Mailman offers a dynamic environment where innovation, rigorous inquiry, and public service are central to its mission, providing an engaging setting for public health professionals and scientists.Role Description The Associate Research Scientist is a full-time, on-site position based in the New York City Metropolitan Area at the Mailman School of Public Health. The role involves designing and conducting public health research studies, performing data collection and analysis, and contributing to manuscripts, grant proposals, and reports. The Associate Research Scientist will collaborate with faculty, research staff, and community partners, help manage research projects and timelines, and ensure compliance with ethical and regulatory standards. Daily responsibilities may include developing research protocols, supervising junior team members, presenting findings at meetings or conferences, and supporting the translation of research insights into public health practice and policy.QualificationsStrong quantitative or qualitative research skills, including study design, data collection, and analytic methods in public health or related fields.Proficiency with relevant data analysis tools and software (e.g., statistical packages such as R, SAS, Stata, or SPSS, and/or qualitative analysis tools).Demonstrated scientific writing skills for peer-reviewed publications, reports, and grant applications.Experience collaborating on multidisciplinary research teams and engaging with community or institutional partners.Excellent organizational skills, including project management, time management, and attention to detail.Strong communication skills, with the ability to present complex findings to technical and non-technical audiences.Doctoral degree (e.g., PhD, ScD, DrPH) in public health, epidemiology, biostatistics, health policy, or a closely related discipline, or equivalent research experience.Familiarity with human subjects protections, IRB processes, and research ethics in public health.Prior experience working in academic or research institutions, particularly in public health, is highly beneficial.Commitment to advancing health equity, diversity, and inclusion in research and practice.Salary Range $100,000 - $125,000Application Site https://academic.careers.columbia.edu/#!/191891Equal Employment OpportunityColumbia University is an Equal Opportunity Employer / Disability / Veteran
