Associate / Senior Associate (Disputes Resolution and Shipping)

Bazul LLC is looking for Singapore-qualified lawyers of 1 to 6 years’ PQE to join our growing practice across two core areas:General Disputes & International Arbitration, andShipping & Maritime DisputesWe are expanding and are keen to welcome lawyers who see this not just as a job, but as an opportunity to grow alongside the firm and help shape its future. We are particularly interested in lawyers who are comfortable using AI and legal tech tools to work smarter — whether that's accelerating document review, structuring first-draft submissions, synthesising case law, or streamlining due diligence — so that more of their time goes into judgment, strategy, and client relationships rather than repetitive spadework.These roles are ideal for lawyers who enjoy working on complex, high-value matters, think commercially, and want to build deep expertise while taking ownership of their work and contributing meaningfully to the firm’s development.What You will doDepending on your practice focus, you will work on a mix of:General Disputes & International ArbitrationCommercial litigation and international arbitration matters, often with a strong cross-border elementComplex legal and commercial issues, providing clear, practical, and commercially sensible adviceDrafting pleadings, submissions, and supporting advocacy — using AI-assisted tools where appropriate to speed up first drafts, research, and document review, while retaining full ownership of accuracy and legal judgmentCase strategy and client advisory work, working closely with partners and clientsShipping & Maritime DisputesCharterparty and COA disputesCargo claims and marine insurance disputesShip arrests, collisions, and maritime casualtiesOffshore, energy, and trade-related disputesSingapore court proceedings and international arbitrations (including LMAA, SIAC, SCMA, and ad hoc arbitrations)Across both practice areas, you will:Be involved early in strategy, case management, and client engagementWork on cross-border matters and build increasing autonomyContribute to the development and growth of the firm and its practicesHelp identify and adopt AI and legal tech tools that improve turnaround times and work quality across the teamWhat We’re Looking ForSingapore-qualified lawyer with 1–6 years’ PQE (newly qualified lawyers are welcome to apply)Experience or a strong interest in either (i) Commercial litigation / international arbitration, or (ii) Shipping and maritime disputesStrong drafting, analytical, and advocacy skillsComfort with, or genuine curiosity about, AI-powered legal tools (e.g. generative AI for research and drafting, e-discovery platforms, contract/document review software) — you don't need to be a technologist, but you should be someone who actively looks for smarter ways to workSound judgment on when and how to use AI appropriately in legal work, including an awareness of its limitations and the need for careful verificationArbitration experience is preferred but not mandatory for the shipping roleCommercial awareness and sound judgmentA proactive, growth-oriented mindset with the ability to take ownership of mattersInterest in client relationship development and long-term client engagementA collaborative approach and commitment to professional growthWhy Join UsAt Bazul LLC, you won’t just be executing instructions.
