You will work alongside seniorengineers on real production features from day one, with code reviews, pairing, and mentorship builtinto how we work. We are less interested in how many technologies you have already used and moreinterested in how you think, how you debug, and how quickly you pick things up.If you have solid fundamentals in modern web development, enjoy figuring out why something broke, and want to learn distributed systems and cloud-native architecture properly rather than superficially, you will thrive at Ryewalk. What You’ll Do

• Build and ship features in Node.js, TypeScript, and React, starting with well-scoped work andtaking on larger pieces as you grow.
• Write and consume REST APIs with proper validation, error handling, and documentation.
• Work with PostgreSQL day to day — writing queries, understanding schemas, and learning howto spot slow ones.
• Debug production issues with support from the team, and learn to read logs, traces, andmetrics.
• Write unit and integration tests as a normal part of shipping, not an afterthought.
• Participate in code reviews — both receiving feedback and, over time, reviewing others’ work.
• Learn our microservices and event-driven patterns by working inside them, with guidance fromsenior engineers.
• Collaborate with product, QA, and delivery teammates to take features from ticket to production. What We’re Looking ForMust-Have
• 6 months to 2 years of hands-on development experience. Internships, apprenticeships, andsubstantial personal or open-source projects count.
• Working knowledge of JavaScript and TypeScript, including async/await and promises.
• Experience building React components, with familiarity with hooks and state.
• Comfort with SQL and relational databases — you can write joins and reason about tables.
• Familiarity with Git in a team workflow (branches, pull requests, resolving conflicts).
• A basic understanding of how HTTP and REST APIs work.
• Strong problem-solving instincts — you break problems down and know when to ask for help.
• Clear written and verbal communication.Nice-to-HaveNone of these are required. These are things we will teach you, and prior exposure is simply a headstart.
• Node.js backend experience (Express, NestJS, or similar).
• Python for scripting, automation, or backend services.
• Awareness of software design principles like SOLID and clean code practices.
• Any exposure to Docker or containerized development.
• Any exposure to microservices, message brokers (Kafka, RabbitMQ), or Redis.
• Any exposure to AWS or another cloud provider.
• Any exposure to GraphQL, CI/CD pipelines, Kubernetes, or observability tooling(OpenTelemetry, Grafana). What Makes You a Great Fit
• Fast Learner — You pick up new tools and codebases quickly and are not thrown by unfamiliarterritory.
• Curious Debugger — When something breaks, you want to understand why, not just make theerror go away.
• Coachable — You take code review feedback well and act on it.
• Ownership Minded — You follow your work through to production and speak up whensomething looks wrong.
• Quality Focused — You test your own work before handing it over.
• Great Communicator — You can explain what you are stuck on, which is one of the mostvaluable skills at this stage.
• Fun to Work With — You bring positive energy and make work enjoyable while maintaininghigh standards. Why Ryewalk?
