The company’s aim is to deliver a comprehensive, reliable service through efficiency and dedication.Role Description The Auction Assistant is a full-time, on-site role based in Orpington. This position supports the auction team with the preparation, setup, and administration of both on-site and online auctions, including cataloguing items, organizing lots, and assisting with photography and descriptions. The role involves engaging with customers in person, by phone, and online, answering queries, guiding them through auction processes, and providing clear information on bidding and payment procedures. Daily tasks include maintaining accurate records, processing bids and payments, coordinating collection and delivery of goods, and ensuring auction areas are safe and orderly. The Auction Assistant works closely with colleagues to support sales events, contributes to smooth auction operations, and upholds the company’s professional standards.Qualifications Experience or strong interest in auctions and online auctions, with an understanding of auction processes and terminology.Effective communication and customer service skills, with the ability to interact professionally with clients, bidders, and colleagues.Sales awareness or experience in a sales-driven environment, including supporting auction sales and promoting lots.Good organizational and time management abilities, with attention to detail in cataloguing, record-keeping, and handling payments.Comfort working in a fast-paced on-site environment, including some manual handling and practical setup of auction spaces.Basic IT skills for online auction platforms, email communication, and office software (e.g., spreadsheets, word processing).Reliability, integrity, and a professional approach, with a willingness to learn auction practices and industry standards.Previous experience in auctions, retail, logistics, or customer-facing roles is beneficial but not essential; training can be provided.
