Apply & track with Apply EdgeJob SummaryThe Automation Engineer is responsible for the design, development, implementation, andcommissioning of industrial automation and control systems. This role leads automationprojects from concept through startup, working closely with cross-functional teams todeliver safe, reliable, and efficient solutions that support manufacturing and processoperations.Key Responsibilities
- Design and implement PLC-, HMI-, and SCADA-based control systems
- Develop control system architecture, I/O lists, and network designs
- Program, test, and commission PLCs and HMIs (Allen-Bradley, Siemens, etc.)
- Integrate field devices including sensors, VFDs, servos, motion systems, and robotics
- Lead system startup, commissioning, and troubleshooting activities
- Support equipment FATs, SATs, and customer acceptance activities
- Develop and maintain electrical schematics and as-built documentation
- Collaborate with mechanical, electrical, IT, and operations teams
- Support automation upgrades, retrofits, and continuous improvement initiatives
- Ensure systems comply with applicable safety and electrical standardsRequired Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Automation, Mechatronics, or related field, or equivalent experience
- 3+ years of experience designing or supporting industrial automation systems
- Strong knowledge of PLC programming and troubleshooting
- Experience with industrial control panels and electrical design principles
- Ability to read and create electrical schematics and control documentation
- Strong problem-solving and communication skillsPreferred Qualifications
- Experience with Rockwell Automation or Siemens platforms
- Experience with HMI/SCADA development (FactoryTalk, WinCC, Ignition, etc.)
- Experience with robotics, motion control, and vision systems
- Familiarity with industrial networks (EtherNet/IP, Profinet, Modbus)
- Knowledge of safety standards (NFPA 70, NFPA 79, ISO 13849)
- Experience supporting capital projects or system integrationWork Environment & Travel
- Manufacturing or industrial project environments
- Travel for installations and commissioning as required (typically 25–50%)
