Automation Technician – Medical Devices

Location: TXPosition SummaryThe Automation Technician supports the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement of automated manufacturing equipment used in medical device production.

This role ensures equipment reliability, production efficiency, and compliance with quality, safety, and regulatory requirements.Key ResponsibilitiesPerform preventive and corrective maintenance on automated manufacturing equipment, robotics, and PLC-controlled systems.Troubleshoot electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic equipment issues.Support equipment installation, commissioning, qualification, and process improvements.Read and interpret electrical, mechanical, and pneumatic drawings and schematics.Maintain equipment documentation and maintenance records.Assist with equipment upgrades, engineering changes, and automation projects.Train production personnel on equipment operation and safety.Ensure compliance with GMP, ISO 13485, FDA, and company safety standards.QualificationsAssociate degree in Mechatronics, Automation, Electrical Engineering Technology, or a related field; equivalent technical or military experience considered.Experience maintaining automated manufacturing equipment in a production environment.Working knowledge of PLCs, robotics, industrial controls, and automated systems.Strong troubleshooting, documentation, and problem-solving skills.Ability to interpret technical drawings and use standard testing and measuring tools.Preferred QualificationsExperience in medical device, pharmaceutical, or other regulated manufacturing.Familiarity with Allen-Bradley or Siemens PLCs.Knowledge of equipment validation, Lean Manufacturing, and continuous improvement.Physical RequirementsAbility to lift up to 50 lbs., stand for extended periods, and work around industrial automation equipment.Ability to perform visual inspections and wear required PPE in a manufacturing environment.
