Automotive Technician

Job Purpose:The Automotive Technician is responsible for performing basic vehicle maintenance, inspection, troubleshooting, and repair activities in accordance with approved procedures, technical standards, and safety requirements. The role supports the maintenance team in ensuring vehicles are maintained in safe, reliable, and serviceable condition.

Key Responsibilities

Perform preventive and routine maintenance on vehicles in accordance with approved maintenance schedules and procedures.Conduct inspections and identify basic to intermediate mechanical and electrical faults.Diagnose vehicle issues and carry out appropriate repairs or component replacements.Perform maintenance activities on vehicle mechanical systems, including engines, brakes, suspension, steering, and other related components.Remove, replace, and repair basic mechanical and electrical components as required.Use workshop tools, diagnostic equipment, and maintenance equipment safely and correctly.Follow approved technical manuals, maintenance procedures, and work instructions.Complete maintenance reports, inspection records, and other required technical documentation accurately.Conduct functional checks and basic testing following maintenance activities.Maintain a clean, organized, and safe working environment within the workshop.Comply with all applicable safety, quality, environmental, and maintenance standards.Escalate complex or unresolved technical issues to the Mechanical Technician or Specialist Technician when required.Support senior technicians during major repair and maintenance activities when needed.Ensure all assigned maintenance tasks are completed within the required standards and timelines.

Requirements

Diploma or Technical Certificate in Automotive Engineering, Automotive Technology, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.1–3 years of relevant experience in automotive maintenance or vehicle repair.Experience working in automotive workshops, dealerships, transportation companies, or similar maintenance environments.Basic knowledge of light and heavy vehicle mechanical systems.Basic understanding of vehicle electrical and electronic systems.Hands-on experience with automotive maintenance tools and workshop equipment.Ability to read and follow technical manuals, maintenance instructions, and work procedures.Good understanding of workplace health and safety requirements.Experience with heavy vehicles, military vehicles, tactical vehicles, or industrial equipment.Experience in a military or defense maintenance environment is an advantage.Experience in MRO or fleet maintenance environments.Familiarity with vehicle inspection and preventive maintenance programs.Basic vehicle diagnostics and troubleshootingMechanical repair and maintenanceVehicle inspectionUse of workshop and diagnostic toolsTechnical documentationProblem-solvingAttention to detailSafety awarenessTeamwork and communicationAbility to work under technical supervision
