Dance Instructors support a flexible program and create an environment favorable to learning and personal growth. Additional time may be required for performances.
Responsibilities
Teach the fundamentals of dance in one or more of the following genres: Ballet, Jazz, & Hip HopChoreograph a recital piece for each class that incorporates developmentally appropriate skills and techniquesPrepare students to perform a memorized piece in the culminating spring recitalLead the direction, supervision, and organization of students during dance classesApply youth development principles through communication, relationship development, respect for diversity, and the involvement and empowerment of youthAct as a positive role model for students through professional attitude and behaviorEnsure students are actively supervised at all timesMaintain high standards of health and safety in all activitiesBuild relationships with students and families who participate in the Auxiliary ProgramProvide parents with appropriate feedback and information to support their children’s successEnsure the proper use, care, and maintenance of equipment and facilitiesActively participate in all program areas and duties as assigned
Qualifications
Experience teaching and working with children in a variety of dance styles, including ballet, tap, jazz, and hip hopStrong knowledge of dance techniques, instruction, and age-appropriate skill development. Strong communication and interpersonal skillsAbility to communicate effectively with students, coworkers, and familiesHigh School Diploma or equivalent Bachelor’s Degree preferred, but not requiredMust be 18 years or older
