Applicants can explore benefits and learn more about the district through its online resources and social media presence.Role Description The AVID Tutor is a full-time, on-site role based in the Austin, Texas Metropolitan Area, supporting students in the AVID college-readiness program on Leander ISD campuses. Day-to-day responsibilities include facilitating small-group tutorials, guiding students in questioning, problem-solving, and study strategies, and reinforcing skills that promote academic success in core subjects. The tutor collaborates with AVID teachers to prepare materials, review student work, and align tutorial support with classroom learning goals. Additional duties may involve monitoring student progress, providing constructive feedback, promoting college and career awareness, and maintaining a positive, inclusive learning environment. The AVID Tutor is expected to uphold district guidelines, model professional behavior, and contribute to a culture that engages, inspires, and supports diverse middle and high school students.Qualifications Experience working with Middle School and High School Students and an understanding of their developmental and academic needs.Strong content knowledge and confidence supporting students in Mathematics and related academic subjects.Demonstrated Tutoring skills, including facilitating small-group sessions, guiding inquiry-based learning, and reinforcing study strategies.Effective Communication skills, with the ability to explain concepts clearly, listen actively, and build respectful relationships with students and staff.High school diploma required; some college coursework or a degree in education, mathematics, or a related field preferred.Commitment to equity, inclusion, and supporting students from diverse backgrounds to achieve college and career readiness.Reliable, organized, and able to follow school procedures and AVID program guidelines consistently.Ability to collaborate with teachers, counselors, and administrators and to work on-site during regular school hours.
