Role DescriptionAn Avionics Engineer / Propulsion Engineer is responsible for designing, developing, integrating, testing, and supporting aerospace electronic systems and propulsion technologies for aircraft, spacecraft, unmanned systems, and related aerospace platforms. The role combines avionics, electrical systems, propulsion engineering, systems integration, testing, reliability, safety, and technical analysis to support the development and operation of advanced aerospace systems.Key responsibilities include designing and analyzing avionics, electrical, navigation, communication, flight-control, instrumentation, monitoring, and propulsion-related systems; developing system architectures, technical specifications, interfaces, wiring diagrams, schematics, control systems, and engineering documentation; supporting the design and development of aircraft and spacecraft propulsion systems, engines, fuel systems, propulsion controls, power-management systems, and associated components; performing engineering calculations, simulations, modeling, trade studies, and performance analysis; integrating avionics and propulsion systems with aircraft, spacecraft, UAV, or other aerospace platforms; defining system interfaces, requirements, electrical connections, communication protocols, control logic, and data flows; developing and executing verification and validation plans, test procedures, laboratory tests, ground tests, functional tests, environmental tests, and flight-test support activities; analyzing telemetry, test data, system performance, faults, anomalies, and reliability indicators; troubleshooting electrical, electronic, control, propulsion, instrumentation, and integration problems; supporting engine and propulsion-system testing, performance evaluation, thermal analysis, vibration analysis, fuel-flow analysis, combustion-related assessments, and control-system development; collaborating with aerospace engineers, mechanical engineers, electrical engineers, software engineers, systems engineers, flight-test teams, manufacturing teams, quality teams, suppliers, and program managers; supporting the development of flight-control computers, sensors, actuators, navigation systems, communication systems, data acquisition systems, engine-control systems, and propulsion monitoring systems; evaluating components, materials, sensors, electronic hardware, propulsion equipment, and control technologies; supporting configuration management, design reviews, technical investigations, risk assessments, failure analysis, and corrective-action activities; preparing engineering drawings, specifications, test reports, analysis reports, compliance documentation, and technical presentations; supporting certification, qualification, safety, reliability, and regulatory requirements applicable to aerospace systems; utilizing CAD, MATLAB, Simulink, Python, simulation tools, avionics development platforms, test equipment, data-analysis software, and digital engineering technologies; incorporating artificial intelligence, autonomous systems, advanced sensors, predictive maintenance, digital twins, and data analytics where appropriate; monitoring emerging aerospace technologies including electric propulsion, hybrid propulsion, sustainable aviation technologies, advanced flight-control systems, autonomous aircraft, and next-generation avionics; and continuously improving system performance, reliability, safety, efficiency, maintainability, integration, and technological capability.QualificationsBachelor's or Master's degree in Aerospace Engineering, Avionics Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Propulsion Engineering, or a related discipline.Strong understanding of aerospace systems, avionics, electrical systems, propulsion systems, flight controls, instrumentation, and systems integration.Knowledge of aircraft and spacecraft architectures, electrical power systems, communication systems, navigation, sensors, actuators, control systems, and data acquisition.Strong understanding of propulsion principles, engine performance, fuel systems, propulsion controls, thermal management, combustion, and propulsion-system integration.Familiarity with MATLAB, Simulink, Python, CAD, simulation tools, data-analysis platforms, and engineering software.Knowledge of embedded systems, microcontrollers, digital electronics, control systems, communication protocols, and real-time systems is advantageous.Understanding of avionics communication standards, aerospace data buses, navigation technologies, telemetry, and flight-control systems is beneficial.Familiarity with propulsion testing, instrumentation, test equipment, data acquisition, performance analysis, and environmental testing is advantageous.Strong knowledge of aerospace safety, reliability, verification and validation, configuration management, and systems-engineering principles.Familiarity with aerospace standards, certification requirements, quality systems, and regulatory frameworks is beneficial.Strong analytical, mathematical, technical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.Ability to interpret engineering drawings, system schematics, specifications, requirements, test procedures, and technical documentation.Strong ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary aerospace engineering, manufacturing, software, testing, quality, and program-management teams.Knowledge of UAVs, spacecraft, electric propulsion, hybrid propulsion, autonomous systems, advanced flight controls, or space systems is advantageous.Familiarity with artificial intelligence, machine learning, digital twins, predictive maintenance, autonomous flight, and advanced aerospace analytics is beneficial.Strong attention to safety, reliability, precision, quality, and engineering compliance.Ability to analyze test results, investigate system anomalies, identify root causes, and recommend corrective actions.Professional engineering registration, aerospace certifications, or relevant technical qualifications are advantageous where applicable.Strong technical communication, documentation, project coordination, and presentation skills.High level of integrity, technical curiosity, accountability, and attention to detail.Strong commitment to continuous learning and staying informed about next-generation avionics, propulsion technologies, autonomous aerospace systems, electric and sustainable propulsion, advanced controls, and emerging aerospace engineering technologies.
