AVP, Equity Analyst – Information Technology Sector

A global investment management firm is seeking an experienced Equity Analyst to join its U.S. Equity Team in New York. This position will focus primarily on the Information Technology (IT) sector and will play an active role in fundamental equity research and investment recommendations for U.S. equities.Working closely with a Senior Analyst and portfolio managers in New York and Head Office, the successful candidate will conduct in-depth company and industry research, develop financial models and valuations, analyze earnings results, and contribute to investment ideas and stock recommendations.Key ResponsibilitiesConduct fundamental, bottom-up equity research on companies within the IT/Technology sector.Build and maintain detailed financial models, including earnings, cash flow and balance sheet forecasts.Perform valuation, scenario and sensitivity analyses.Analyze quarterly earnings, company guidance, SEC filings, investor presentations and industry developments.Develop investment theses, target prices and stock recommendations in collaboration with senior investment professionals.Identify potential new investment opportunities and provide timely insights on company, industry and market developments.Prepare research and investment materials for portfolio managers and other members of the investment team.Work collaboratively with investment professionals in both New York and Head Office.Depending on experience and demonstrated capabilities, assume primary research responsibility for selected companies or areas within the IT sector.QualificationsBachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics or a related field.3–5+ years of relevant experience in equity research, investment management or a related analytical role.Strong understanding of U.S. public equities and fundamental investing.Prior experience covering the IT/Technology sector is strongly preferred.Strong financial accounting, financial modeling and valuation skills.Ability to independently analyze financial statements and develop detailed earnings and cash flow forecasts.Strong analytical and quantitative skills with the ability to translate complex information into actionable investment insights.Excellent Excel and PowerPoint skills.Experience with Bloomberg, FactSet or similar financial research platforms preferred.Exposure to Python, SQL or other data analytics tools is a plus.Strong written and verbal communication skills.CFA designation or progress toward the CFA is preferred but not required.Ability to work effectively in a collaborative, multicultural investment environment.
