While we are embedded within a global investment platform, we maintain a collaborative, innovative culture where our AI talent can experiment, learn, and have real influence on business outcomes.Job SummaryWe are seeking a hands-on Cloud / Software Engineering Lead to design, build, and support scalable technology platforms across cloud, application, data, and infrastructure environments. This role requires strong technical breadth across public cloud providers, software engineering, distributed computing, advanced Linux operating systems, containerization and Kubernetes-based hosting platforms, server administration, networking, storage, web application development, database design, modern AI-enabled engineering practices, and technology project delivery. The ideal candidate should be well versed in multiple database technologies, including time-series, OLTP, and OLAP systems, and should understand their internal workings from first principles. They should also be able to leverage modern AI capabilities to increase the velocity, quality, and consistency of software development and delivery.Key ResponsibilitiesDesign, develop, and support cloud-based solutions across Azure, Google Cloud Platform, and AWS environments.Design distributed systems with expertise in scalability, fault tolerance, latency optimization, and cost efficiency. Ability to evaluate architectural trade-offs (consistency vs. availability, monolithic vs. microservices, synchronous vs. asynchronous patterns) and drive decisions based on business and technical constraints.Build and maintain software solutions using Python and other modern programming languages.Apply advanced Linux operating system knowledge to administer, troubleshoot, tune, and secure compute environments across development, test, and production systems.Design, deploy, and operate containerized hosting solutions using Kubernetes for scalable, resilient, and secure application workloads.Develop and operate distributed computing solutions, including platforms such as Apache Spark.Design and evaluate database architectures across time-series, OLTP, and OLAP workloads, selecting the right technology based on workload patterns, data volume, ingestion velocity, query access patterns, consistency needs, and operational constraints.Apply first-principles understanding of database internals, including indexing, partitioning, storage layout, query execution, transactions, concurrency, compression, aggregation, and distributed processing trade-offs.Lead and contribute to web application development efforts, ensuring solutions are scalable, maintainable, and aligned with business needs.Promote and apply SDLC best practices across requirements definition, design, development, testing, deployment, documentation, and support.Leverage modern AI capabilities, including AI-assisted development, code review, documentation, testing, analysis, and automation, to increase development velocity and improve delivery outcomes.Partner with technical and business stakeholders to plan, manage, and execute technology projects from concept through delivery.Troubleshoot complex technical issues across cloud infrastructure, applications, data processing systems, servers, storage, and networks.Identify opportunities to improve engineering practices, automation, reliability, performance, and operational efficiency.QualificationsIntermediate to expert-level experience with one or more major cloud providers, including Azure, Google Cloud Platform, and AWS.Strong software engineering background with hands-on Python development experience and familiarity with additional programming languages.Experience administering servers and working with storage systems and network environments.Advanced understanding of Linux operating systems, including process management, memory management, filesystems, networking, security, system services, performance tuning, and troubleshooting.Advanced knowledge of containerization and Kubernetes for hosting solutions, including container image design, orchestration, cluster architecture, workload scheduling, service discovery, ingress, storage, networking, security, observability, autoscaling, and operational troubleshooting.Strong understanding of distributed computing concepts and experience with technologies such as Spark.Strong knowledge of database design and broad experience with database technologies across time-series, OLTP, and OLAP use cases.Deep understanding of database internals and first-principles trade-offs, including row-oriented versus column-oriented storage, indexing strategies, partitioning, sharding, transaction semantics, concurrency control, query planning, and performance optimization.Experience developing web applications and applying modern application architecture patterns.Solid understanding of SDLC best practices and the ability to promote those practices across teams.Demonstrated experience managing or leading technology projects with cross-functional stakeholders.Strong analytical, troubleshooting, communication, and documentation skills.Preferred ExperienceExperience working in hybrid or multi-cloud environments.Familiarity with cloud-native services, automation, CI/CD, infrastructure-as-code, observability, or DevOps practices.Experience applying AI-enabled tools and workflows to accelerate software engineering, improve developer productivity, support quality assurance, and streamline project delivery.Experience supporting production systems and improving platform reliability, scalability, security, and performance.Ability to balance hands-on technical execution with project planning, stakeholder communication, and delivery ownership.CompensationThe base salary for this position is expected to be between $250,000.00 and $325,000.00. The base salary offered to the chosen candidate will be commensurate with a candidate’s relevant experience and other qualifications for the position, as determined by the Company in its sole discretion. In addition to base salary, this position is eligible for an annual discretionary bonus [which is often a meaningful portion of the compensation package], and a robust benefits package.
