AWS Cloud Architect, you'll combine hands-on architecture with strategic advisory capabilities, helping clients modernise technology platforms and accelerate cloud adoption.Core ResponsibilitiesYou will:Design secure, scalable, and resilient AWS cloud solutions.Support clients with cloud migration, modernisation, and optimisation initiatives.Define target architectures, technology roadmaps, and platform strategies aligned with business objectives.Advise clients on cloud best practices, security, governance, resilience, and operational excellence.Collaborate with engineering teams to deliver cloud-native platforms using Infrastructure as Code, automation, and DevOps practices.Design and develop cloud platforms, landing zones, and modern operating environments.Support cloud cost optimisation and FinOps initiatives.Build strong client relationships and act as a trusted technology advisor.Lead technical workstreams and mentor engineers and consultants.Help clients realise the full value of cloud technologies through modern architecture and platform engineering approaches.Additional Responsibilities for Principal AWS Cloud ArchitectsAt Principal level, you'll be expected to operate at a broader strategic and leadership level, including:Defining long-term cloud strategies, operating models, and transformation roadmaps for client organisations.Leading complex cloud transformation programmes spanning multiple teams, technologies, and business functions.Setting architectural direction and making key technology decisions at enterprise scale.Partnering with executive stakeholders and influencing senior decision-makers.Managing technology risks and resolving complex business and technical challenges.Acting as a recognised Subject Matter Expert (SME) in Cloud Architecture.Building and leading multi-disciplinary teams delivering strategic transformation initiatives.Driving innovation, establishing best practices, and shaping cloud architecture standards across multiple engagements.Contributing to the growth and development of the wider consulting practice.What We're Looking ForAWS Cloud Architect5+ years' experience in Cloud Architecture, Cloud Engineering, or Cloud Transformation.AWS Solutions Architect Associate or Professional certification.Strong expertise in AWS services and cloud-native architectures.Experience designing enterprise-scale cloud solutions.Proven experience supporting cloud migrations and infrastructure modernisation.Strong understanding of Infrastructure as Code, Platform Engineering, and DevOps practices.Experience implementing cloud governance, security, and resilience controls.Strong stakeholder management and consulting skills.Experience leading teams or technical workstreams.Active SC Clearance.Principal AWS Cloud ArchitectIn addition to the above, we'd expect:8+ years' experience in cloud architecture, strategy, engineering, and large-scale transformation delivery.AWS Professional-level certification.Experience defining cloud strategies, operating models, and enterprise transformation roadmaps.Proven success leading complex cloud migration and modernisation programmes.Experience influencing executive stakeholders and operating at senior leadership level.Ability to lead multiple workstreams and large delivery teams with minimal oversight.Recognition as a cloud thought leader or subject matter expert within your organisation or client environment.Experience building capability through mentoring architects, engineers, and consulting teams.Highly Valued Technical ExpertiseExperience in one or more of the following areas would be advantageous:AWS Organisations and Service Control Policies (SCPs).Identity and Access Management (IAM).AWS Secrets Manager, KMS, and enterprise security frameworks.Terraform, CloudFormation, and Infrastructure as Code.Cloud Landing Zones and Platform Engineering.CI/CD tooling including GitHub Actions, GitLab, Jenkins, and Azure DevOps.Site Reliability Engineering (SRE).Multi-cloud environments (AWS, Azure, and GCP).Cloud cost management and FinOps practices.AI-enabled engineering tools such as GitHub Copilot, Claude Code, or equivalent.Industry ExperienceWe are particularly interested in candidates with experience in:Public SectorCentral GovernmentHealthcareFinancial ServicesOther highly regulated industriesWorking ModelThis position operates under a flexible hybrid working arrangement, requiring approximately three days per week onsite, either at a client location or one of the UK offices in London, Leeds, Manchester or Newcastle.Security Clearance RequirementsDue to the nature of the projects and client environments, candidates must hold active SC Clearance.Applicants should also meet the eligibility requirements associated with UK security-cleared roles, including having been resident in the UK for the previous five years and not having spent more than six consecutive months
