This role is responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining secure, scalable AWS-based infrastructures, including servers, networks, storage, and related services. Day-to-day tasks include performing systems administration, monitoring performance and availability, resolving technical issues, and optimizing environments for reliability and cost efficiency. The position involves collaborating with security specialists to ensure compliance with best practices, conducting root-cause analysis for incidents, and implementing automation for deployments and maintenance. The AWS Systems Engineer Expert will also provide technical support to internal teams, contribute to documentation and standards, and participate in continuous improvement of system design and architecture.Qualifications Required:Strong systems engineering and systems design skills, with experience architecting and implementing AWS-based solutions.Proficiency in system administration and troubleshooting for Linux and/or Windows server environments.Experience providing technical support for complex infrastructure, including incident resolution and root-cause analysis.Knowledge of AWS services (e.g., EC2, VPC, RDS, IAM, CloudWatch, Lambda) and related automation tools (e.g., CloudFormation, Terraform, CI/CD pipelines).Understanding of cyber security principles, including network security, identity and access management, and secure configuration practices.Ability to document architectures, procedures, and standards clearly, and to collaborate effectively with cross-functional technical teams.Relevant certifications such as AWS Certified SysOps Administrator, AWS Certified Solutions Architect, or equivalent experience are highly beneficial.Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field, or comparable professional experience.Project Leadership: · Lead infrastructure upgrades, migrations, and new technology rollouts. · Participate in disaster recovery planning and testing. Documentation & Knowledge Sharing: · Create and update technical documentation, runbooks, and knowledge base articles. · Empower the service desk and end-users through knowledge sharing. Collaboration & Mentoring: · Work closely with cross-functional teams and stakeholders at the national level. · Mentor junior engineers and foster a culture of continuous improvement.Experience required:· Minimum 8+ years in infrastructure engineering, including hybrid cloud and migration projects.· Proven expertise in Windows Server administration (2016, 2019, 2022) and AWS infrastructure (EC2, S3,VPC).· Strong scripting and automation skills (PowerShell, Python, Terraform).· Experience managing virtualization platforms (VMware, Hyper-V).· Exposure to containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes) is a plus.· Experience with ITSM tools (ServiceNow, Jira).· Familiarity with network concepts (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP) and storage technologies (SAN/NAS).· Demonstrated ability to lead infrastructure upgrades, migrations, and new technology rollouts.· Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.· Experience working effectively with both technical and non-technical staff.Qualifications required· Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field; equivalent professionalexperience considered.· Certifications in relevant technologies, such as:· AWS Certified SysOps Administrator· AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Associate· VMware VCP· Azure certifications· ITIL certification (preferred)· Knowledge of IT Service Management (ITSM) principles and tools (e.g., ServiceNow, Jira).· Understanding of infrastructure management, including network concepts (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP) and storagetechnologies (SAN/NAS).· Commitment to safety, reliability, inclusivity, and accountability.Competencies required:· Excellent written and verbal communication.· Outcome-driven, organized, and adaptable.· Strong leadership and mentoring abilities.· Commitment to safety, reliability, inclusivity, and accountability.
