Backend / Application Engineer

Joining Qahwa means contributing to tools that directly impact how café owners manage and grow their businesses in a fast-evolving market.What you'll do:Design, develop, and maintain scalable backend services and RESTful APIs for Qahwa’s café management platform.Build and optimize business logic to ensure high performance, reliability, and maintainability.Integrate third-party services, APIs, and external systems as required.Improve system architecture to support scalability, security, and future growth.Collaborate with frontend engineers, product managers, and data teams to deliver new platform features.Troubleshoot, diagnose, and resolve production issues in a timely manner.Write and maintain automated tests to ensure code quality and system stability.Participate in code reviews and enforce engineering best practices.Create and maintain technical documentation for backend systems, APIs, and development processes.Translate business requirements into robust technical solutions in collaboration with stakeholders.Monitor and optimize backend performance, database efficiency, and application reliability.Contribute to technical planning, architectural decisions, and continuous platform improvements.What we're looking for:Strong Software Development skills, including backend architecture design, API development, and application optimization.Experience providing Technical Support for production systems, including debugging, incident response, and root-cause analysis.Familiarity with Testing practices, such as unit, integration, and end-to-end tests, and continuous integration pipelines.Background or exposure to Electrical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering concepts is beneficial, especially for integrating hardware (e.g., POS devices, IoT equipment).Proficiency in at least one modern backend programming language (e.g., Node.js, Python, Go, or similar) and common frameworks.Experience with relational and/or NoSQL databases, caching, and message queues, and designing data models for high-availability systems.Knowledge of cloud infrastructure and DevOps practices (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes, CI/CD, monitoring, logging) is a strong advantage.Ability to collaborate in cross-functional teams, communicate clearly, and contribute to technical documentation and code reviews.Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.Experience in retail, hospitality, or POS-related systems is a plus, as well as interest in the coffee and café industry.Why Join Qahwa?Competitive SalaryCareer growth opportunities in a rapidly expanding company.
