Backend Developer

Role DescriptionThe Backend Developer will design, develop, test, maintain, and optimize server-side applications, APIs, databases, and software services that support digital products and business systems. The role focuses on building reliable, scalable, secure, and high-performance backend solutions while ensuring seamless communication between applications, databases, and external services.Key responsibilities include translating functional and technical requirements into backend solutions, developing application logic, creating APIs, implementing business rules, and integrating internal and third-party services. The role will collaborate with frontend developers, software engineers, product managers, QA specialists, DevOps teams, and other stakeholders to deliver effective technical solutions.The position will contribute to database development and optimization, data processing, authentication, authorization, caching, logging, system integrations, and application performance. Responsibilities may include designing reusable components, improving existing services, troubleshooting technical issues, and implementing enhancements to system functionality.The Backend Developer will participate throughout the software development lifecycle, including requirements analysis, technical design, coding, testing, debugging, deployment support, monitoring, and maintenance. The role will also contribute to code reviews, technical documentation, version control, automated testing, and development standards.Additional responsibilities include investigating application errors, optimizing database queries, improving API response times, addressing security vulnerabilities, and supporting reliable production environments. The role may also work with cloud infrastructure, containerized applications, microservices, CI/CD pipelines, and distributed systems.The successful candidate should demonstrate strong programming, analytical, and problem-solving abilities. Attention to detail, software security awareness, code quality, and the ability to develop maintainable solutions are essential.QualificationsBachelor’s degree, diploma, or equivalent qualification in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field.Strong understanding of backend development, software architecture, application design, and software development lifecycle principles.Proficiency in at least one backend programming language such as Python, Java, C#, C++, Go, PHP, Ruby, Node.js, or a similar technology.Strong understanding of data structures, algorithms, object-oriented programming, design patterns, and clean coding principles.Strong knowledge of RESTful APIs, web services, API authentication, authorization, and data exchange formats.Strong understanding of relational databases such as PostgreSQL, MySQL, SQL Server, Oracle, or equivalent platforms.Proficiency in SQL and familiarity with database design, relationships, indexing, transactions, and query optimization.Familiarity with NoSQL technologies such as MongoDB, Redis, DynamoDB, or equivalent systems is advantageous.Strong understanding of Git and modern version-control practices.Familiarity with unit testing, integration testing, debugging, logging, monitoring, and software quality practices.Understanding of backend security principles, including input validation, authentication, authorization, encryption, and secure API development.Familiarity with cloud platforms such as AWS, Microsoft Azure, or Google Cloud is advantageous.Understanding of Docker, containerization, CI/CD pipelines, and automated deployment practices is advantageous.Familiarity with microservices, message queues, caching systems, and distributed application concepts is advantageous.Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to investigate complex technical issues.Strong attention to detail when designing, coding, reviewing, testing, and maintaining backend systems.Ability to write clear technical documentation and communicate technical concepts effectively.Ability to collaborate with frontend developers, QA engineers, DevOps specialists, product teams, and other stakeholders.Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple development tasks and priorities.Willingness to learn new programming languages, frameworks, architectures, tools, and emerging technologies.Proactive mindset with a strong focus on performance, scalability, security, reliability, maintainability, and continuous improvement.
