We're a game studio that takes immersive, social gameplay seriously — and we're looking for engineers who do too.The RoleWe're looking for a junior to mid-level Backend Developer to join the team building multiplayer and game server infrastructure for our flagship VR title. You'll work alongside senior engineers as part of a close-knit team, helping shape how thousands of players experience the game together in real time.You'll work closely with gameplay engineers, designers, and platform teams — learning, contributing, and growing together as you build systems that are fast, secure, and built to scale.What You'll DoHelp design and build the multiplayer game server architecture — session management, matchmaking, authoritative game state, and real-time syncWork on the Photon Fusion networking stack as part of the team — from initial setup through scaling to high player concurrency, including room management, server-side logic, and load distributionCollaborate on hard concurrency problems: race conditions, shared state under load, tick-rate optimisation, and latency compensationContribute to secure server-side systems — anti-cheat foundations, input validation, DDoS resilience, and secure client-server communicationHelp build and maintain the player data backend — profiles, progression, inventory, leaderboards, and persistent state — with a strong focus on consistency, availability, and securityWork with the team to design for scale: help ensure both the Photon layer and player data systems hold up under concurrent load spikes without data loss or race conditionsCollaborate with Unity/Quest client engineers to define clean client-server contractsWhat We're Looking ForMust-haves:1–3 years of backend engineering experience, with some exposure to real-time or multiplayer systemsStrong fundamentals in concurrent programming — you understand threading models, locking, lock-free data structures, and where each appliesSome hands-on experience with Photon Fusion or similar, and a strong willingness to go deep with the teamSolid working knowledge in C#, Node.js, or Python — you're not religious about the language, you pick the right toolGrowing understanding of game server security: preventing cheating, validating game state server-side, and securing exposed endpointsSome exposure to building player data systems — persistent state, progression, inventory, or similar — with attention to consistency and concurrent write handlingNice-to-haves:Experience shipping a multiplayer game title (any platform)Familiarity with Meta Quest platform services (Multiplayer, Presence, OVR SDK)Knowledge of cloud game server orchestration (PlayFab, Agones, Nakama,etc)Experience with performance profiling and network optimization for real-time gamesTech ContextPlatform: Meta Quest (standalone, Android-based)Client engine: UnityNetworking: Photon Fusion (decided stack — deep experience required)Languages: C++, C#, Node.js, Python — use what's rightInfrastructure: Cloud-hosted game servers (architecture TBD with you)Why JoinBe part of a close-knit team tackling one of the most technically complex parts of the product, with mentorship from senior engineersIn-office team in Bengaluru — fast feedback loops, no async bottlenecksWork on a product category (social VR on Quest) that's early and genuinely interestingLocation:Work from Office - BangaloreSalary:6 Lacs per annumHow to Apply?Write to us at hiring@autovrse.in, with the Subject Line: “Applying for <Job Role>” Please include your latest Resume / CVPlease include a brief cover letter / note on how you see yourself in this role.If you have a LinkedIn Account, make sure to send us the updated profile.If you are a Developer / Engineer, include your Github / equivalent profile.If you are a Designer / Artist, include your latest portfolio (ArtStation, Behance etc.)
