Backend Engineer - Python, Trading Systems

As an Backend Engineer, you will Build and own services supporting trade execution and related workflows. Client Details Leading organisation in Abu Dhabi. Description * Design, develop and maintain backend services and APIs using Python. * Build and own services supporting trade execution and related workflows. * Integrate with brokerage platforms and other third-party APIs. * Build safe and reliable external integrations with appropriate authorisation, failure handling and traceability. * Design and optimise PostgreSQL schemas and queries, ensuring data integrity, security and performance. * Work closely with frontend and DevOps engineers to build, deploy and monitor production applications. * Troubleshoot production issues and improve system latency, reliability and operational performance. * Write automated tests and maintain clean, production-quality code. * Take ownership of backend services while contributing across adjacent product areas when required. * Use AI coding tools as part of the software development lifecycle to develop, investigate and validate changes. * Work with product and AI teams where applications or agents need to interact safely with execution services. Job Offer * Opportunity to own technically important backend services within a growing engineering environment. * Hands on exposure to trading and execution technology. * 3-10 years' experience in backend software engineering. * Experience within financial services, trading, trade execution or Order Management Systems (OMS) is preferred but not required. * Strong hands on Python development experience. * Strong experience building and supporting production HTTP APIs and production experience with PostgreSQL. * Comfortable debugging complex production APIs and third party integrations. * Strong understanding of reliability, performance and failure handling in production systems. * Full stack, SRE/DevOps or AI application experience is advantageous. * Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
