Backend Software Engineer (Java / Python / C#) – Investment Banking£80,000–£95,000 + bonus & benefits | West London | Permanent | 5 days onsiteWe’re hiring a mid-level Backend Software Engineer to join the London technology team of an investment bank, building mission-critical systems supporting global payments and financial markets.You’ll work on high-performance backend systems that provide end-to-end visibility across payment lifecycles and connect into trillions of dollars of global liquidity and capital.This would suit an engineer who enjoys solving complex technical problems and wants to work on large-scale, business-critical systems.What we’re looking for:Strong backend software engineering experienceCommercial experience with Java, Python or C#Strong problem-solving and software design skillsExperience working with scalable, distributed or high-performance systemsExperience participating in or leading code reviewsAbility to support and mentor other engineersYou do not need to tick every technology box. We’re interested in strong backend engineers first and foremost.Experience with any of the following would be useful:Java 17+ / Spring BootOracle SQLDocument databasesKubernetesJenkinsGitHub Copilot or other AI coding toolsBuilding AI agents or using AI to improve engineering productivitySalary: £80,000–£95,000 + bonus & benefitsLocation: West LondonWorking pattern: 5 days per week onsiteVisa: Candidates must already have the right to work in the UK.
